this thread is pointless
Why is this thread pointless? Pre Lockout end, I thought we where ready to compete. Post Lockout, the team is starting to look very diffrent and more and more like we are in complete rebuild mode.

I don't know why so many were expecting anything different. New coaches, systems. Virtually zero offseason. Why so surprised?
I agree. The chances were slim at the beginning. Now, we lose key personnel in the middle of the offense and defense, and the bloodletting has just begun. We could see new starting personnel at ILB, OLB, NT, CB, FS, C, and a holdout at RB.

I'll take the superior coaching over the overrated talent any day.
1 small example:
Seattle didn't beat New Orleans in the playoffs last year with better personnel... they did it with better coaching.
If you believe that Harbaugh/ Roman + Fangio are easily better than Sing/Raye + Manusky?
Then we can still make this season very interesting.

Obviously, not....

But seriously, maybe it was obvious to some of you football guru's, but it wasn't to me. It's not that I didn't think we would struggle the first year, I just didn't think we would be struggling to keep the team together. The only guys left on the roster are the guys that dont have a choice.

I'm not talking about age, I'm talking about display of talent.

You are right that the system is most important. It just appears that with the limited window of time to install the new system, that this is going to be a rugged 2011, especially if counting on a mass turnover in key personnel.

Agreed. Right now things aren't looking to well. Were losing all our starters on D. On offense Gore holding out, We brought back a QB with 18-32 record, and we lose some of our OL.

This could be classic board overreaction, or it could be a complete lack of trust in what Niners' brass is doing. I just don't trust the guys in suits, at all. It seems they are continually unprepared for the big moments regarding player personnel.

Your right. Why dont we all log off right now and discuss the season when it's over......

I enjoy the emotion of it. I enjoy the speculation. If you dont, fine. Continue to pop in and piss on peoples parade. There is no right or wrong way to be a fan, so dont lecture me about how to react. If you want to sit around and pretend wait and see is the superior approach, by all means feel free. But I'm on this forum to discuss 49er football, things that happened, may happen, my current view and yes, sometimes raw emotion. Sorry it bothers you.

True, but odds are a move out east. He's from Tennessee, and probably will move closer back to home. In that the team has not secured his services so far, it appears he is not a huge priority. It seems like the Niners are putting all of their chips on the table to get Asomugha.

Losing TKO sucks but we have young guys that need to step up.
Baas doesn't worry me
Manny although I like him hasn't done much it the grand scheme of things
Frank will sign a new deal
There are a lot of FA's who we could sign at any time so I'm not going to go crazy like I did with the Jim situation. It all will play out in the long run. I'm sure the coaches watched a lot of film and made suggestions on who can go.
