Who would you rather mentor Kaepernick?

No knock on Smith, but Rodgers, Brunell, and Hasselbeck seem to have done alright under Favre.

By that I assume you mean they got to sit on the bench and watch, rather than being thrown in the mix befrore they were ready.

THIS!!!!!

Also, where is the "other" option?
Obviously Brett Favre, but Id rather have Alex be our starting QB than Favre

Not me, I know he takes chances, but you imagine the 4-85 connection? VD would crush the TE TD record.

Exactly... and since when is it the Vet QB's job to mentor rookie QBs. People are forgetting about Holmgren, Reid, and McCarthy.

Veteran QB's who are established starters don't go out of their way to mentor any rookies cause in their mind the rookie has no chance to play for that team anyways. Sure they will answer questions but the only vet QB's doing any mentoring are the ones on their way out of the NFL.

Brunell might be older than Farve and he started a lot of games for the jags when he was young. He wasn't learning the game from Farve, he was the experienced backup
Sure, Favre might have done some good things in this league, but that was back when backyard football could sneak past a few defenses. I dont know if you saw his last game but the consensus is that that style is obsolete. The new breed of QB is in the mold of Steve Young and now the up and coming Mike Vick. A QB who is accurate as a passer and fast on his feet. McNabb had some of those abilities earlier in his career. I think we can get this type of play out of our young Kaepernick, maybe not to the extreme of these hall of fame capable QBs, but still a high level of play. Im not even going to address Smith mentoring anyone. He in fact could use a good mentor when it comes down to it.
