I just sprained my ankle playing football about 9 days ago and its still not right. it effected whole foot and my achilles heel, tried to play in a game last sunday and played with a lot of pain with VERY little wiggle in my routes.. Crabs just needs to keep OFF of it till its 100%..

From reports, his "injury" is not a sprain but rather sore feet from having "new shoes." Sprains can be very painful and take a long time to heal but that is not what we are hearing about his problem. Shoes that don't fit properly may cause blisters or some bruising but that should not keep him out this long.

I'm not buying it. Until we hear more definitive information, I am of the opinion that this is a ruse.

So Crabtree already called it quits, 2 drills and he's done lol
Tim Kawakami: Well I think Crabtree did 1 or 2 drills and now he's serving as a adviser/watcher

Was afraid that CK would knock him on his a** with a ten yard out.

Glad he is there at all and it can't hurt...unless CK throws...

Lockout maybe over soon, maybe he should do a little more work then 1 or 2 drills

I dont always work out, but when i do, i dont outwork..... anybody

fixed

So easy to jump all over Crabs for sore feet, but kudos for showing up seems like thats half the battle.

Different Injury than Crabtree, but yeah I sprained my ankle pretty badly 3 years ago, and it still isn't 100%. I'm glad Crabtree was at least attentive this week. I don't think anyone would have cared if he had just been on the field for the last camp. That is the level of professionalism that is expected when mildly injured.

I also had a badly sprained ankle playing in highschool. That was 8 years ago and my left ankle still isn't the same.

Not sure if I'm buying it either. When I played in high school I had a pair of cleats that didn't fit right too. I had a screw in cleat right under the ball of my foot. I have very high arches so all the weight came down right on the that one spot. There was never a time when it didn't hurt but I couldn't get my parents to spring for another pair of cleats. I had to play through the pain.

If Crabtree is not injured then he should go back to what worked last season or man up and play through a little pain. After all the football he's plays I have trouble believing he doesn't know how cleats should fit if that's all the problem is.
Not that there are any defensive players at today's workouts...

...but I find it funny that Dashon Goldson is on Twitter today, simultaneously tweeting about MTV's SUPER SWEET 16 while Maiocco tweets about the workouts.

Funny.

Very true. Again, no defensive players are there today anyway.

I just thought it was funny.

As long as Crabtree was there and was focused on learning rather than just "chillin' with the boyz"? ... no big problem overall... just disappointed that he couldn't take it further and get some physical reps along with the mental.

Although it would be great to hear him fully participating, the risk of an injury outweighs what he could potentially be learning by doing physical reps.

Said this before, but I seriously doubt anyone is asking the boy to make sharp cuts in practice. Crabs already made a ton of money in signing bonus, and getting hurt would only make him count his money while not bothering to play. So the injury thing to me is invalrod.

Film study is a big part of this week's activities. Smith showed film cut-ups this morning of West Coast offenses through the years, including Steve Young running the 49ers' offense. The practice session was filmed, and Alex Smith spent some time watching it later with Long and Cloherty -- two players who did not attend the workouts earlier this month.

One thing is for sure, Alex will know the offense better than anyone else on the team. That has to count for something, albeit not much. We all know how smart he is. Its the train camp battles and actually QB-ing that he struggles at
