Smith and Kaep get no playing time in a Niner uniform if Josh Johnson is on our team.....

josh johnson is horrible why do you think they drafted Freemen.

Freeman is a better QB, but that doesn't mean JJ is "horrible." What kind of logic is that, dude???

so if a team has a good QB, or whatever you wanna say about johnson, its a good idea to draft a QB in the first round.........

The Bucs really didn't know what they had in Johnson since he didn't throw a pass in 2008 (the season right before Freeman was drafted). They didn't know if he was good, bad or horrible, so they did the smart thing...they took a chance on a kid who had franchise QB potential in Freeman.

Point being, nobody really knows that Johnson can do in the NFL yet since he's only thrown about 150 passes. He didn't look that great in 2009, but looked much better this year in very limited duty. You could eventually be right in that JJ turns out to be "horrible." But neither you nor anyone else knows that for certain at this stage of his career.

Why isn't that obvious to you?

I can see if you said that he wasn't a proven QB yet (true), or that Johnson hasn't shown enough to warrant any hype in his 3 years (also true) or something along those lines. But horrible? Kid hasn't played enough to be called/labeled that.

He said he watched all his games. Alot of fans on this site like him just because he had some success in harbaugh's offense in college but they've never seen him play....
If we were to get Josh Johnson it would def soften the "blow" of retaining Alex Smith.

Johnson and Kaepernick would be good insurance options.
Josh excelled in Harbuagh's system in college and so who woud know more about his ability? If the 9ers go after him it will be with considerable insight, not web conjecture or fan bias. The 9ers need all the help they can get and that includes at least four QBs who can run for their lives if the right side of the line isn't fixed.

You are missing the point...if Harbaugh, QB expert, wants Josh, then Josh might be better than you think he is. If he is as bad as you say, Harbaugh will say nice things about him (when the CBA is signed) and not try to trade for him. Have to wait and see.

He was a 5th round pick that showed some promise... Then a new coach comes in and no head coach in his right mind is going to go into his first season with a 5th round pick as his starting QB, especially one who he didn't draft. So he took a QB with a first round pick and it worked out pretty well for Tampa. Doesn't make Josh Johnson a bad QB, actually it shows a lot about him that he is a 5th round fourth year QB and is the backup in Tampa. Most lower round QB's usually end up on the practice squad.

Its not like Morris wasnt around the team if he thought for a second Johnson could start he wouldnt have drafted Freeman. I really dont think we will trade for him anyways. If he likes Alex, only god knows why, and he drafted Kap I dont see it happening.

if we have A. Smith, JJ, Kaep, and Froman that would be ill...

I think A.Smith would end up the #3 by the end of pre season.

My only point is, you don't know one way or the other what Johnson will do if/when he gets consistent playing time (which he hasn't yet). Like I said, you might be right and he might suck under Harbaugh if given the chance...but to speak as if you know for sure what he is or what he will be in the future after only 141 pass attempts in the NFL is silly.

You realize that Josh was a 5th Rd. rookie QB who didn't play at all his rookie year. They went out and got Josh Freeman the following draft, because they saw him as a franchise QB and you grab one if you get a chance. Saying they drafted Freeman because Johnson sucks is ignorant IMO. You don't draft a 5th Rd. QB and expect him to come in and set the world on fire from the get-go. You develop him. Look at his progress from year 2 63/125 50% to year 3 14/16 87.5% when he didn't get much of a chance to show what he had, but showed enough to suggest he's developing into a good back-up at least.

You're probably one of the people that think JaMarcus Russell is a good qb huh?

If I recall correctly, that was the 3 QBs (Smith, Kaep, JJ) he's been saying since before the draft. Not a big surprise he still says it. But JJ is determined by TB and how much they'd take for him. I still wouldn't go higher then a 5th Rd. pick. And why give up much for him? He's slated to be a FA after next season I believe.

5th sounds right. Thats where JJ was drafted but so I doubt Bucs will agree to trade for that.

I can see them doing that if he's just their backup and they know they'll be losing him at the end of the year anyway.
