Finding the Fits - QBs

Good Fits:

Colin Kaepernick, San Francisco 49ers: I will be the first to admit that I have not been as high on Kaepernick as many others are, but there is no denying that he was drafted into an ideal scenario with the 49ers and head coach Jim Harbaugh. Kaepernick has rare physical tools, as well as the intelligence and work ethic to be successful. Kaepernick's elongated throwing motion, however, is a concern of mine. I had reservations about it and know that some teams did too. I believe that when a club asks a quarterback to significantly alter their throwing motion it lessens the likelihood of the quarterback ever having success, which is one of the reasons why Kaepernick's fit with an NFL team was so important. The 49ers and Harbaugh, however, don't appear concerned with the hitch in his delivery . Harbaugh is widely credited with developing Andrew Luck's natural talents and preaches an offense that spreads the field and occassionally allows the quarterback the freedom to run -- all of which bode well for the former Nevada passer. Perhaps best of all, as a 2nd round pick, Kaepernick might be afforded the luxury of time to develop.
That King article about Kaepernick and Harbaugh gave me serious wood. I'm gayer for the pick now than Baalke is for Harbaugh.

It got me excited too. (Not quite that excited!)

This morning on The Herd, the ESPN guys were absolutely bashing this pick. They saw no way that CK succeeds.

What were their reasons for why he wont succeed?
They said that he came from a gimmick system, that his throwing motion sucked, etc. They said "What where the niners thinking". They said they drafted for a franchise qb but that CK is in no way that guy.
I watched this guy a lot with the 'Wolfpack' last season and I believe this guy will add the multidimensional game we have lacked for so many seasons....a QB that will throw a good deep ball, can throw when on the move, and like with Nevada, will post some decent running yards---making plays when not much exists. 9ers have certainly had more than their share of plays break down, but I think this guy has the ability to make things happen. GO 9ERS!!!!

What a bunch of bullchit! Doesn't pretty much every QB come from a "gimmick system"? His throwing motion is a little elongated, but not even close to comparing it to Tebow's. Look at his reaction time, delivery time, and accuracy when he was tested:

Guy is a friggin beast! Besides, he's got the "QB Whisperer" to mold him into an elite QB. That has got to be as good a situation to be in when coming in as a rookie.
'Kaepernick is going to the perfect team' - ESPN
even before the draft, San Francisco was looked at as the best situation for a rookie QB to land.

Man...I was in love with the pick immediately....But these past few days, with articles written by guys like Peter King/ESPN/etc., I'm really starting to be in lust. No homo.
