I think he is terrible. I remember watching this guy play and he couldn't hit a SHORT pass to save his life. The guy has no touch on his passes and pretty poor accuracy.
He does have a strong arm and is athletic. But don't count on accuracy, touch, or ability to read defenses or make his progressions.
Definitely a project QB and hopefully with some great coaching he develops. But just from what I saw of him in college, I thought this was an awful pick.
I watched him play several times over the last two years and could not disagree more. I thought he showed very good touch and excellent poise in the games I watched. He had a 65% completion percentage his senior year . . . I don't think accuracy will be a problem at all once he's comfortable in the system.
Time will tell. But I'm just stating my opinion of him from what I've seen. I usually watch 2-3 Nevada games a year, and each time I've seen him he looks like a great CFB QB that won't translate into the NFL. Shotgun (pistol) offense and it didn't look like he know how to read his progressions. He hung onto the ball for way too long, relying too much on his legs to buy him time. He locked onto WR's also.
On his plus side, very athletic and I don't doubt his arm strength. But for me, I want my QB to have a quick release, accurate, and ability to make quick reads and read the D rather then force the ball. Athleticism and arm strength just don't excite me as much.
I've watched all there games for the past 5 years at least. He's started most of those 4 years. His growth over the past two years has been very good. Point is he arrived as a throwing QB, was pushed into the Pistol, and then over the past 1.5 years was asked to become a passing QB as well. I personally think you are wrong, but everyone is entitled to their opinion.
