Yes, but like steve and walsh, Colin and Jim will also have to teach him to be a qb first and teach him to unlock his arm, cause he can make every throw now we need a faster tightend to catch the passes!

ah yeah..my man who's gotta seriously be jockin this pick!!

Mallet threw at the combine, so i guess the brilliant patriots are f**ked too
I'm getting more and more excited about this pick. Kaepernick is a very intriguing prospect, with all his natural attributes he's a very modern quarterback, a mobile guy that can take on the more athletic, speedy defenders in the league, with a quick release, a guy who puts a lot of power behind his passes(used to throw over 90mph as a pitcher in high-school, was drafted by the Cubs), and in general he seems like a guy who's a leader, who is willing and able to adapt which makes him in many ways the anti-Alex.

I think having Harbaugh working with him, this guy could be a real player in the league. Definitely something to be excited about if you're a 49ers fans, a real top-notch quarterback prospect who simply needs coaching up and we happen to have a head coach whose speciality is exactly that.

Kaepernick, for better or worse, is Harbaugh's guy so you can expect that he'll put maximum effort into developing him, if not because he has an affinity for that position, then for simple self-preservation and getting this team a winning QB.
Cant say much as I haven't seen nothing but highlights but I do like the fact that he is athletic enough to be able to use that ability as a plan B but not extremely athletic to where his legs are Plan A or Plan A.2 like a young Vick or Vince young and other super athletic QBs.

Can somebody tell me where this guy fits 233 lbs?... He looks like 195 lbs. at best.

He's tall.
Wow love this pick.. I'm from Modesto/Turlock and I have to say this pick has just rocked our central valley!!! Damn I still can't believe this.. I remember we played Colin in highschool when I was on Johansen and he lit us up! I really hope this guy pans out he proved all of us out here wrong when he lit it up in college... Amazing day for the 209.
Looked at the Bengals MB and the reaction of the fans to the Dalton pick is pretty much like here LOL... Some people hated the pick and wanted Kap instead.
The difference between Kap and other athletic QBs like Tebow, Newton, Vick, even Mcnabb, is that Kap scored a 37 on the wonderlic, dude actually has quite a brain.

I think we should've drafted dude on the far right. He looks like a baller.
I like the pick but don't expect anything till 2012 at the earliest. He's gonna need a year or two to grow and frankly, that should be the minimum for any QB drafted, even first overalls.
Andrew Luck steps back in the pocket, lofts one deep downfield to Colin Kaepernick...touchdown 49ers

if Colin flames out at Qb he can probably be a good receiver

fixed!
ESPN article on the Kaepernick story for those who may have missed it. Ran last year during the NCAA season.

"He got only one scholarship offer to play football. He never ran the ball in high school. Most thought he would end up playing baseball."

"Kaepernick had a 102 degree fever. But he played the entire game and dominated. It was all right there in front of Sacks, the intangibles Nevada wanted from its players. Sacks called Nevada coach Chris Ault after the game and raved."

"Coach, this guy is unbelievable," Sacks recalled telling Ault.

"Let's go on him," Ault replied.
