"Impose our Will" Gone, Still Drafting Troubled Players?

I don't think so. Why? I see Harbaugh as a tough guy to please and if you're not doing your job and are a distraction, you'll be benched. Continue it further and you'll be traded or released soon afterwards. I don't know why I get this impression, but I think the team will respond well to Harbaugh because he brings knowledge and success which will equal more wins, not just motivational talk that got us nowhere.

Ironically, this sounds like more of the rhetoric you might hear from Singletary. Getting back to reality, these kids coming out of college are not always polished players ready for professional sports. They need mentors and coaches who show them the right way to do things.

I suppose Harbaugh might be comparable to Nolan in terms of how disciplined he is. Unlike Nolan, I think that he has a much more ambitious desire to win. I remember the article where he held a meeting with the Stanford coaches and said something to the effect that if you don't think we can win a bowl game get out. This bold statement, after they had a losing record for years. I've just seen coaches like this, where they are rambunctious and making huge promises fail to connect with the players themselves.

When Jim Tomsula took over for the final game of the season, he made it a point to let the players play loose and relaxed...have fun. The opposite of what Singletary's team was like. They responded, and we destroyed Arizona. It sounds like we're going right back to an uptight high-pressure team under Harbaugh. I guess we'll see how the players respond to him.

The way I see it, as long as the players know mentally what they are doing on the field, they can play any way they want. The coaches should take the responsibility of making sure of that. The players that we have are not trouble players, they are frustrated players that lack focus. They want to get better but the recent coaches aren't giving them the mental tools to get better. At least that's my impression.

Vernon Davis - Attitude problems, immature. He became a Pro Bowl tight end and almost set the record for TD's last year.

Plus, Bowman has completed none of the 100 hours of community service that was ordered by the court. A hearing on his probation status is scheduled for this week.

And we took a chance on LaGarette Blount before he took off. There's no doubt these kids have talent, but you need someone who can whip them into shape mentally and physically.

So now that we have a competent coach who has tons more experience than Singletary, can we still draft problem kids and turn them around? This isn't discussed very often, but the fact that Singletary is black and a good role model might be the reason why he can reach out to some of these players and get through to them. I think I've heard Vernon refer to Singletary as a father figure on occasion. I don't forsee any player responding to Harbaugh that way.

So draft Cam Newton then......he seems like the most troubled kid out the draft....and we need a QB.

We don't need to draft talented idiots because we don't have a dumb game plan anymore. We can draft smart football players who get the big picture like the Pats do now that we will have a higher need for the ability to understand a complex system.
