Wow this is the first time I've ever seen one of these threads
Another Alex Smith thread.

This has been rehashed to death. It is a nature vs. nurture argument. Many favor nature, as you seem to do. Although Rodgers did have the benefit of 3 years of coaching, sitting behind Favre. Smith lacked both. He didn't have the moxie, and his coaching kept changind from year to year.

Rodgers has the moxie, but I'm not sure that would have been enough to overcome the coaching changes, or Nolan, or Singletary. It is moot.

Now...
Hey we had Mike Martz, and Cutler was available. I get you and I feel your pain, but if you keep looking back it makes it hard to go forward!
Never thought of that....

Be realistic, we HAD MCarthy on the coaching staff, the Niners where going to draft either Aaron Rodgers or Alex Smith. So this scenario was very realistic.

You cannot compare the Brady scenario to this scenario, apples and oranges.
and aaron rodgers would have been just as s**tty as smith became

1. Mike McArthy was the Offensive Coordinator for the niners in 2005. They finished dead last with AS at the helm.

2. McArthy goes back to GB and is now a good coach because he has a franchise qb in Aaron Rogers.

So so close, had the coach on the 9ers staff, and had the opportunity for the franchise qb.

AAAAArrrrgggghhhhhh.........

Coulve. McArthy. Rogers.

You Serious?

You need to move on - this is so old.
Yeah..."what could have been"....we could have actually hired competent coaches to develop and groom our project QB, raw TE and WRs.

No one seems to get upset about that. It's always.."Oh what kud hev bin dood..we kudda had Rogerz!!"

You realize the only difference would have been...we'd have won maybe 1-2 more games per year...Rodgers would have had better stats...then BOUNCED after 2008 when he realized how incompetent our coaching staff was. He wouldn't have stuck around like Mr. Please Everyone Smith.

But hey...."what could have been..." I'm still pi**sed we traded Joe Montana. He could have stayed and we'd have won 2 more IMO.

McCarthy was the one who wanted Alex
