The guy that is most underrated with different qb is Joe Gibbs. Theismann, D. Williams, Rypien. All good qb but made them into SB quarterbacks. The makeup of Gibbs' football team help his qb too. To go to the SB with 3 different qb, even Walsh with his love for qb didn't do that. But not saying that he couldn't.

Walsh had Montana, so there was no need for other QB´s.

It's important for at least the OC to be compatible with the QB. Of the four teams in the championship round, I would say the Steelers, Bears and Jets feature an OC/QB relationship that is stronger than HC/QB relationship. These relationships are probably a result of the teams having defensive HC's.

Of course, ideally the HC/QB relationship is strong, too. But I think it needs to be the coach who is in charge of the offense. A defensive HC just needs to stay out of the OC's way in that case.
