morgan is a solid #2 WR. consider that he technically is our #4 go to guy. crab(overrated) is #1 followed by davis, gore and then morgan. almost 700 yards is pretty good for him. if we had better QB play i could see him getting 1000 yds in a season.

There were balls, Crabtree should have easily caught, but didn't. I didn't think it mattered who was throwing him the ball, either.

Here's a good Dan Patrick interview (from 12/20/10) with Joe Montana about the WCO-style Harbaugh ran at Stanford with Andrew Luck (in which Jim will be bringing to us).

Later on in the interview Joe spoke of how he wanted his son Nick to go to Stanford (that he'd have a lot of fun in the WCO), but by that time Nick was 'full-pressed' for Washington State.

Montana: "That systems' (WCO) pretty close to the same thing 'we' ran; word-for-word actually, almost some of the stuff that Bill (Walsh) had ran."
Patrick: "So Stanford is running the same offense as you (guys) ran with the niners?"
Montana: "Pretty much, word-for-word, well a lot of it. I won't say all of it, Jim 'put' some (of his own) touches in it, but when our son was getting recruited (by Stanford), that's one of the things he (Jim) talked about/showed in the playbook, in terms of the offense being run there."

That's really cool stuff. Even more cool, is the supposed vault of documentation Harbaugh will have access to once he gets things into gear.

we probably have 1 on our roster already in kyle williams. quick, shifty as well as fast
I had high hopes for him. Does anyone know what happened to him this season? I know he had a few injuries at TC and pre-season and then he totally dropped off my radar.....

He was injured far too often, then he was the #4 receiver I think but we only used two most of the time.

thanks for the reply. I hope the injuries were just an unlucky season and he can come back next season. I was under the impression he got turf toe in TC and hurt it again during the pre-season.
Would be nice to see him used a little more next season if we come out with any 3/4 WR sets.

I don't usually make predictions, but I can see Harbaugh moving VD to WR more often next year to get a more dependable short game going. VD does not read and react to blitzes on routes (his blocking is tremendous). He is getting better but Harbaugh will want someone who can really get in sync with the QB and find the open area across the LOS. We have given away several of those guys to other teams over the past few years but if Davis can be moved around more it will create mismatches. He could come out of the backfield, line up outside, while still playing TE a third of the snaps. Should be fun to watch.
Crabtree and Morgan better learn to complete routes and work hard or they will be on the bench. A fifth round draft choice could take their place. The kid from Stanford comes to mind.

Harbaugh knows how to use his players talent, expect VD and Gore to have amazing years next year.
Also Harbaugh really knows how to use his TEs VERY very well, I expect Delanie and VD both to have good and great years

I don't think Morgan will be on the team much longer. WCO receivers need to get very quick separation which is a glaring shortfall of Josh Morgan. Plus I don't think he runs a very precise route.
One of the other guys mentioned a Welker, Amendola type and I'd tend to agree.
The best Morgan could hope for is a #3 slot receiver job.

I like Morgan, I think the problem is he's had garbage throwing to him. Same with Crabtree. The two games that Troy was on fire, these guys both lit it up as I recall.
