Ralph and Tom asked they infamous question to decide if he was going to be successful. If you're on Defense on your own 20 with 1:30 left, the offensive team bust through the line, what do you do?
Without hesitation, Jim said "You let them score."
Ralph and Tom celebrated. They said they've asked coaches that question, and they say "I don't know". Jim said he teaches that to his teams, and they (stanford) were in that situation this year. They were on offense and their player sat on the 1 yard line to end the game instead of scoring. They asked the player why he did that, and he said "Because coach told me to."
Yeah, he answered immediately.
What I got from Harbaugh after all these interviews was that he is a preparation-freak. He is gonna be ready for anything on gameday!
I seriously have no fear of the bumbling and stumbling at the end of the half/game. No more poor clock management, and wasted timeouts. He knows what to do and when to do it. Maybe being a QB helped him understand these things, but he seems to actually know WTF he's doing. Something we have not been accustomed to.

Ask that same question to Mike Singletary and he would answer:
"Do you have some film on that?"

That's the move Mariucci made against NO in 2002, letting them score a td to put them ahead by 8 with under 2 minutes left.

This is the sound of a real head coach. One that is comfortable in the role and has confidence in what he's doing.

Did you guys watch the Greg Papa/Ratto interview on CSN. Papa asked some nice questions about offense.
He asked Jim who called the plays and Jim said literally everyone. I wonder if that's his plan to include some key guys in the playcalling to keep the defense guessing and get information from what others are seeing to stay away from tunnel vision.

I remember Mooch would run the ship like that. He picked his plays, the OC picked his, and then he'd call Steve in to see what he wanted to run. Then the gameplan was put together with all of their input.

Yep, this was mentioned in this interview as well, and is a great way to insure ownership of the game and get everyone 100% on board and engaged. Works in all types of job situations.

Yeah, when you hear people (like from our prior regime) say that it isn't done like this, you sorta just say to yourself "Really?
"
