The delicate dance of choosing GM and HC; note: we are on the clock

We need a HOFO, he is reportedly anxious to leave miami, and if we are stuck with the yorks for the next 40 yrs or so, & you really wouldn't want an adult who happens to know a lot of football coming here for a few yrs to show junior the ropes, meanwhile getting us the best GM around, and thereby, the best HC around? You really don't think that wouldn't be a trifecta for the 49ers? Man , i sure do. Leaving junior-born with a-golden spoon-in-his-mouth unsupervised results in hiring a HC like, well, say, the BM(bowel movement mike)...and that is where a HOFO like parcells comes in. I've said this before: we don't just need a HOFO...we need one desperately. The alternative is 40 yrs of the yorks running and ruining things, unsupervised, and that is something i just couldn't stomach.

Okay, here's an easy one. How many other teams in the NFL don't have a GM? Right, none. Tomorrow, or more specifically, at end of season on Sun nite(or is it Mon nite), there very well may be some more. Say maybe 2 or 3 new GMs, or at least, teams looking for new Gms. Okay, part 2. How many nfl teams want a Jim Harbaugh or Jim Harbaugh like HC? Answer: probably anywhere from 6-8. Here's the easiest one. Who has a better shot at Harbaugh the day after saturday's bowl games....teams with existing GMs who need a HC or teams with no GM who desperately need a HC? Yeah, that puts us down as the 9th puppy on an 8 titted mother dog. In other words, the GM business better get fixed and quick, or we are going to be out of the running for jim harbaugh type HCs in a big ugly hurry. So, nice as it is for the jedi jed to be perusing GM candidates, if we really want a shot at a premium HC, we best get our GM picked and damn soon.

Now, if jed can't make up his mind, mainly because he doesn't know his business half as well as a majority of guys on this board, then he should have started talks with parcells as a HOFO , head of football ops, long ago. Whether he has or not i have no idea. I just know that to be doing a complete job as president, he should long ago have had a conversation with parcells, who is rumored to be wanting a change. That one hire could remove jed from the equation, immediately, and allow the 9ers to have a great shot at getting better in the area where we are the league's worst: ie, management, which has been hacked up and screwed up since the york's first darkened our doorstep.

If jed has aspirations to be a nfl owner, a real owner, then he of all people should want a parcells type guy in the fold right now. Jed could learn from parcells, and in time would have been exposed to what a football HOFO is supposed to do...to know...it would be the ultimate answer for jed, assuming of course, that he isn't as dumb as a stone...ie, capable of hiring a HOF LB as HC with no experience in OC, DC, GM, coach of RBs, TEs, QBs, WRs, OLs, DLs, DBs,CBs, LBs. Only a fool would have made a choice such as that, and since he fired bigmikeBM, he obviously now knows it. Point is, the kid who made that mad hatter choice for HC, is still not a lot smarter now than then. And that should be a concern for us all...having silver spoon jed picking our GM and HC...for long into the future.

So the delicate dance of musical chairs with GMs and HCs is on. It is imperative that we get our GM choice right... and quick, and a HOFO could erase a lot of jedi problems. IF no HOFO, then jed best make his gm choice quick, so when the first college coaches become available after Saturday's bowls, we aren't sitting around with our thumbs up our you-know-wheres, while other nfl teams with no HCs after
Sun beat us to the punch. I wonder if jed even realizes the time frame squeeze he is in, or is he just oblivious to what is going on around him? I hope it is the former, but sadly, i would bet on the latter.

WOw is all i have to say. Maybe we can ban you to a twitter only webzone account. Go out tonight and party. Your thinking to much and were hearing it in writing.
whatwegot, my impression is that twitter is for people who can't formulate a complete thot. Since you like my writing, you are welcome to join me for more on my 2 yr blog at www.cerroprietovineyard.com, (click on larry's blog), or you are welcome to read either of my two books on fishing and hunting stories in Baja, titled Best Stories of Baja and Arriba!Baja! You will find both humorous...unless you communicate by twitter.
-hire HoFO: agreed, but it's looking like a no go
-hire GM: working on it...sort of
-hire the right HC: we'll see what happens; I'm not holding my breath on this 1

Sounds like the 9ers are supposed to risk a whole lot of tampering charges to pull this 1 off. I wonder what you'd be writing when the league forced us to forfeit draft picks after the old wandering pp gets slapped by commish Goody. I'm betting you wouldn't be happy about that either. I'm not naive, I know millions of conversations have taken place with millions of different people and are never reported as tampering; but some are.

As far as Harbaugh goes, I think a few people need to realign their perceptions a little in regards to his negotiations. This is a competitive league, and every team is guaranteed the opportunity to compete; that includes negotiations. There's absolutely no way to avoid competing with other teams, it's a fact of life. We're not gonna "scoop" Harbaugh out from under anybody. Everyone knows he's out there, everyone's waiting with bated breath for the chance to wow him, and everybody understands it's going to take the best package to land him and even then it's entirely up to him and his family where they go; that's how it is.

He doesn't have to rush his decision because we got antsies in our pantsies, and he sure as hell doesn't have to settle for anything other than the ideal situation for his family. Even if this wasn't a lockout year, NFL teams would be hard pressed to lure this guy away from Michigan. Who knows how many virgins those rich c*nts will throw at em?

So by my count, here's his most preliminary options:

-go to Michigan, make just as much money if not more than an NFL gig, and have all the top talent in the country swoon at the idea of playing for him.

-stay at Stanford where he's made that a successful program again. Life could be worse...

-sign an NFL contract with a potential lockout looming; sounds like fun in the sun.

The guy's got it made in the shade with a glass of lemonade right now and he'd have to be crazy or retarded to want to throw it all away, just to go off all half cocked and sign with a club just because they called dibs on em. Welcome to "The Process 2011". As your doctor, I advise you to chill the f**k out

Just for the record, I'd love for it to pan out the way you laid it down originally, but I just don't see it happening. I got a feeling a lot of people are going to be very unhappy with the York's when this off-season is all said and done...if we even have one.

HAPPY HANG-OVER DAY!!!

I agree with needing a guy like parcels for junior. We have to many accountants running an NFL franchise. The thing that we offer that is an advantage over other teams or schools is the talent on our roster and the high draft choices to get better. I am saying that we have far more talent for Harbaugh to succeed right away: Michigan not so much. Same for Hofo candidates. Parcells can offer the view of how talented our roster is. I think we continue to struggle to find key positions like LT, DE/LB pass rusher, and CBs in addition to our QB issue. We do have outstanding support positions like TE and middle linebacker. Parcells will be able to tell junior how realistic our talent level is currently.

Parcells would tell York Jr. to go sit in his office and let grown men handle the organization.

One mean look from Parcells and Jed would piss his pants.

Jed will be like "sorry sir. I'll go stand in the corner now."

With the Rooney Rule in effect, I'm not sure any team could hire Harbaugh on Tuesday morning since a minority candidate has to also be interviewed. It would seem that unless a team has already done that, every team starts at the same point on Tuesday. It's whoever moves faster to comply with the Rooney Rule.

Already in the book?

Twitters are for twits? Agreed. Enjoy your thoughts and agree that the 9ers need a football guy running the team. Not a big fan of Parcells but he would be a huge improvement over BM and or Balke(sp?).

If Jed has not already figured out what he wants to do...two months ago...the 9ers are in trouble. One of the biggest differences between young Jed and young Eddie D is that Eddie recognized his mistakes quickly and made changes just as quickly. Decisiveness!

It looks to be a device used for smoking marijuana.
Here's a hot flash from Fort Worth, home of the Horned Frogs and also my brother...who heard a 10 min segment this a.m. on sports talk radio about the 9ers. Supposedly the guy who put the presentation on said that yes, jed had talked to Eddie, and that Eddie(?) recommended some consultation with parcells to help sort out the mgmt mess. That was NOT an offer to hire parcells as a HOFO, but rather reported that eddie recommended bringing parcells in for consultation, initially, nothing more. And Harbaugh was mentioned as #1 HC candidate on the program.

i can't verify the above, but believe my bro. What is interesting, is that Ft. Worth would have 10 min segment on the 9ers mgmt mess, and the possibility of parcells coming in as a consultant. Man , if true, i would be one happy fan. Happier yet if he stayed around and showed jed what the hell is supposed to be doing, and how to go about it. I still think if jed wants to run this show he needs 3 yrs of parcells instruction. Right now we got a guy as team president so far out of his element , he might as well be on Pluto.
Odd, but in a strange kind of way the Rooney rule may end up actually helping us a bit, maybe a day, maybe 2, which is probably about all we will have if Harbaugh is the target. His name is supposedly showing up on several college boards too, but from what i have read, if it is another college, it would be Michigan( which is in the market for certain). Then there are the other nfl teams. Like someone already posted, Harbaugh should be in no hurry to choose, because it looks like he is going to have a bunch of choices...one of which is to remain at Stanford.
