Do you switch Staley and Davis tackle spots?

yea break his leg and let him sit out
Potentially but lets not get too excited.

I was upset with people b***hing about him being a bust because he's a 20 year old rookie but I also understand he isn't a pro bowler...yet.
I've been saying this all season. I also don't like Staley that much and it wouldn't mind if he was gone next season.
This is an argument that has bugged me for almost the entire season. -Davis was one of the most NATURAL left-tackles to come out of the draft (his feet/body trajectory/composure is fit for the 'blind-side'; he's more naturally gifted, physically, than even Okung).

Only reason as to why he hasn't probably started at LT as of now is probably due to Solari feeling that he might not be ready to protect the 'blind-side' (compared to Staley's veteran experience).

-In fact Michael Oher (of the Ravens) was just finally moved to LT this season, going into his second season (even when LT wasn't they're consistent strength when they drafted him).

We just signed Staley to a nine year extension/$18 million guaranteed last June . . . he'll be here a while barring a trade.

I also think it had a lot to do with Iupati being at left guard.

We picked him at the 9 spot. He needs to be a left tackle or I kind of feel its a bust.

Good info.

Still, Davis is only 20 while Staley is 26 and has been somewhat injury prone. It wouldn't be unreasonable to assume Davis will be around another 4-5 years after Staley retires or moves on.

The best reason for the move is Davis' superior lateral movement and quickness. That has been the weak spot for Staley and that is typically how he gets burned, while Davis' troubles are the result of inexperience and poor execution/technique.

Davis' drawbacks will lessen over time, Staley's will not.

No. I think you let the continuity occur between Staley-Iupati and Rachal-Davis. They will all look better with a better QB and offensive system.

Nothing could make Rachal look better, he has 0 football instincts, he's Kwame at RG basically.

Rachal played very well the last two games. If he continues to play at that level, he will have been worth his draft status.
Left tackle is not quite the premium spot it was 3 or 4 years ago. Teams now try to put a strong rusher on BOTH ends of the line.

The left side is still the blind side so it is the easiest side for a strip/sack but pressure from the right will drive the right-handed QB to the side he is least comfortable throwing.

I see no need to make a big move with Davis/Staley.

Hell no. Davis can't even hadle RT. How is he going to handle LT?...

Id' actually love to flop AD and Staley. In a perfect world the better athlete should be protecting the blind side . . . and Staley got paid but he's still not making anywhere near elite LT money.

And to your point on Staley's recent injury bug, a RT is easier to plug in than a LT.

I imagine that a new incoming regime will look at this.
doesnt the blind side change depending on if the quarterback is left or right handed. cause there back is turned in different directions. like michael vick is left handed and alex smith is right. so technically if vick was on our team.. woudlnt davis be his blindside?

And we'll get LT play at RT pay!
