or they can just hire a coach who is White, Black, AND Hispanic......like ME but on a serious note, that is just dumb. I wouldn't give a sh*t if he was bright pink, although it would be wierd , as long as he is getting the guys ready to play on gameday, that is all that matters and Singletary, well.....isn't

Any way he could coaxed out of retirement?

IMO an 80% Bentley > David Baas on his best day.

he got staph infection in that knee. and it basically ended his career.
He's just a dumb loser who gets out coached and out manuvered in every game. Generally speaking fans don't like that. Regardless of what color you are...

Not sure what he's whining about here. Solving racism would be like curing cancer and unfortunately lots of ppl would be out of jobs and be lacking in purpose. People are saying Sing is a horrible coach because he has by most accounts a pretty talented team and knows not how to utilize his talent. He chose to not upgrade the talent level at the QB position when he could have. He is poor at gameplanning and making adjustments during the game. He is being judged by the content of his success not the color of his skin. Dream realized.

he said it had to do more with him being an HOF ex-PLayer and his players not having the same passion that he does.

Can't watch the video at work.

Is he pinning the blame or implying blame on Singletary or the players?

Is he blaming Sing for expecting that his players should and could play with the same passion that he did?

Or is he blaming the players for failing to live up to Sing's expectations that they should all have the same drive and passion that he exhibited as a player?

If it's the latter, then I think Bentley's off-base.

if you haven't watched it yet. it is from week 5.

the question of race was brought up by the questioner. and for when this was filmed i think he nailed it. he dodged the subject mostly but later said race is involved in coaching( why is there only 1 black OL coach?).

he said it had more to do with singletary expecting the passion he played with from everybody. LB went on to say there are only a handful of guys in the league with that passion.

he then went on to say they wil be more harsh on him because he is an ex player(HoF at that) and they(do not know who they is media or other coaches) are going to be harder on him for it.

i do not think he said anything outragous, definatly nothing to warrant any major comments or a thread at that. i think he nailed much of it.
Black, schmack. Race? c'mon. BM(bigmike) stinks. Doesn't know xs and os. Can't do a presser without embarrassing himself and us. Doesn't know how to coach DC, OC, RB, DEs, TE, OL, DL, DBs, CBs, P,K, ST...hell he's a LB coach for heaven's sakes. He is woefully incapable of doing this job, and has proved so time and time again. What in the world does race have to do with gross incompetence and stupidity? Poor guy gets schooled every time we play a smarter coach(which is weekly) and they can be black, white brown. It doesn't matter. BM is a dumbdumb, and shoulda been fired at 0-6. Jeez, if we win out last 4 games we can tie his best record of 8-8...and we all know that ain't gonna happen. Let's get off race an on competence...something BM flat out never had. He has hurt this team worse than erickson and lilmikeynoln combined, because he makes the 9ers look like fools. Black? puhlease....

This is crazy, when you have a team that is supposed to win and you don't win, I don't think race is a factor anymore. This is about success & failure!

for anyone to step out and say race is still a major issue is funny to me. sports were the first area in which races were all treated equally. when black players came into baseball, football, basketball, etc and they helped teams win, even back in the day when racism was very common, people put aside their hate because of a common goal. their team was winning, and all the sudden race didnt really matter.

i hate when people single out sports, and question "why is there only 1 black OL coach in the NFL?" maybe because hes the only black guy whos an NFL caliber OL coach? if that dude can tell me which of the 31 other white OL coaches dont deserve their jobs, and which black OL coaches would be better, then fine. otherwise hes just pulling the race card for no reason.

Sports in general today is one of the most accepting cultures in America. Owners have all realized, even if they are racist, that winning matters most. if the black guy is the best for the job, he gets the job. race affecting who gets what job probably comes into play every now and then. maybe its a close comparison, and a team picks the white guy. it probably happens every so often, but what about the black guys in charge of things who pick the black player/coach because they want to even things out? you cant tell me black coaches, GM's dont pick black players over white ones, and use the excuse that theyre giving black guys a chance.

the player/personnel guy in Jacksonville was black, and he had all black QB's on the roster the whole time he was with the team. its the same thing as what is complained about the other way around.

in 2010, when nearly half this country would support gay marriage, anybody who comes out and starts saying race is the reason why they did or didnt get a job in pro sports just wants attention. if youre good enough in sports, you get the job. black, white, green, etc.

Though I agree that race has nothin' to do with criticism of Singletary's - I completely disagree that race is not a factor in sports. It's also not just against the black athletes, it's also against the white athletes.

It starts in high-school and college. White players are asked to switch positions because they are not considered fast enough. Black players are not considerened smart enough. Sometimes it has to do with their talent and sometimes it has to do with personal biases and believing in stereotypes by some coaches.

Same goes on at the coaching level. Many would argue it's even worse at upper management level - because you tend to give those jobs to people you are comfortable with, or people who think or talk like you.

NBA is a great example of this. They have done a great job of adding black people in the coaching ranks, but now, I often see black head-coaches with black assistant coaches, and hardly any white guys on the staff.

It works both ways. In NFL it's more obvious because upper-management is all white and there are very few black HCs.

I don't think you can really call it racism, but it's just who you feel comfortable with, and most of us haven't broken that barrier where we have the same comfort level with all the races and colors.

He sucks and he is black Not correlated.. I'm pretty sure if he was having Mike Tomlin success the article would be much different.

You forgot to add Marvin Lewis who has been given more rope than any coach since Wayne Fontes. However, Fontes had a yearly late season surge that provided some justification for keeping him on.
Singletary might end up a good coach someday, if he takes the time to learn from his mistakes. It was pretty silly of anyone to think that a guy with zero experience was going to come in and light the world on fire. Most of you bitter little children are just victims of your own unrealistic expectations. On a side note, incompetence is not limited to or by any specific skin color.
