How would you use A.Smith in 2011?

It depends on who we draft. If we draft someone in the first, we're probably going to throw them to the wolves. I'm not a proponent of that. We're going to go through growing pains next year no matter what, and unless some rookie emerges with Bradford like play on our team, we're going to be starting someone who isn't a top-tier NFL QB.

Alex is serviceable, but at this point, we can't say he's the guy to get us to where we want to be. He's just a player to fill the gap until we find "they guy."

I would have him as a back up to rivers in sd.

hire him as my accountant since hes "so smart"... but than again he has little hands and probably cant carry or count my cash.... so id hire him as my gardner...

The Niners should contract him out to Walmart as a greeter along with Sing! That way at least we know they won't be in over their heads.

REsign and trade, he will get semi decent backup money on the free agent market, so why not profit off that by getting a pick for it?

As the guy who starts. For only one reason so his replacement can sit on the bench and learn. like we should have keep garica and drafted someone to replace him but we have terry to thank for that after making the probowl he told him to take a pay cut at he had a reasonable contract at the time anyways, and when garcia laughed at the idea as he should have terry cut him with out any backup plan to who was going to start the next decade at the position.

I think we should keep alex but for that reason only and we should trade up if possible to land the qb we want if it's luck. if not hope cam falls to us and he's got the most upside and I've never seen a qb will his team to win down like he has done several times. the kids a winner with amazing upside but him and luck need time to adjust to the speed of the game.

Cause we can't afford to f**k this up again. a bust at qb set's a franchise back 5 years we have the talent and are improving across the board but we can't afford to have another alex smith just throw him in the fire and have his coachs throw him under the bus because they didn't know what they were doing or how to groom him and keep his confidence... and in the bay area with joe and steve as the niner qb's in the past it's hard enough for a rookie to even live up to that type of winning and leadership and we put a hugh amount of pressure because of those guys on the qb's we've had since.

Alex and the 9ers will both be better off with him somewhere else. IF you were going to trade him, you shoulda already did it. He WILL become an UFA and will go somewhere else. The ony thing we will get in return is the void of ALex Smith threads in WZ.
