Just give the team back to Eddie and let him right this ship!

I'd like you to name and owner of a sports team, in any sport, that spent a career in that sport. You won't find many. Sports teams are businesses and that's how they need to be run.

Eddie was successful because he had the right guys working around him. Jed needs to get the right guys.

Like I said, they're owners by default. They don't have that drive to find the right guys to work around them. They don't have the drive to make the tough (or easy) decisions *cough*fire singletary*cough*push to find a replacement for alex*cough* when they need to be made. They don't wanna shell out the big bucks for football people to come and fix this. They take their chances on unproven, inexpensive commodities and hope for the best. They don't make s**t happen until it hits rock bottom and they're being booed during some halftime ceremony.

I bet you the Yorks didn't give a rats ass about football growing up. Eddie D on the other hand was probably a fan (of some team) just like us. You don't have to have a career in sports to be knowledgeable or passionate about sports. How many of us zoners have a career in the sports field? Probably like 1%, maybe even less.

just had to ask coz jed seems to be gettin scrutinized way more than i think he deserves - at least at this stage.
I laughed at the Billboard that Raider Fan created last year that said "Hey Al, Hire a GM now!" I'm not sure if he even hired one.

But damn, here we are...stuck in a damn ditch, looking up at Seattle and STL.

actually this sounds like a good idea. they have a strong winning tradition under newsome, i would like to raid a team for once just a team with a winning back ground because they are the most likely to succeed because they've been around other winners and should know what it takes.
We need to hire Holmgren away from Cleveland. i think he would be happy to come back to SF. Not to mention look at what he has done for Cleveland in one year. I've been a Niner fan for over 30 years and I love the 49ers but I've had it. Hire a top level football guy for the front office or I'm gone. I'll start rooting for the Browns. No more "next year" for me!! Well maybe one more "next year."

Sitting here eating coco puffs and watching to ten draft trades one thing certain we need a GM badly. And lets get back to being the 49ers and not the Ravens or the 85 Bears.

I'm not saying we should be the ravens or the bears. but to raid a team with a winning tradition would be nice. Also I don't want trent as g.m. I fail to see how he's a upgrade, but i do like he's been a scout for 40 years and i'm fine with him drafting talent, but working free agency with additions of david carr and deciding on not taking any qb to push alex was by far a dumb moment, alex should never feel like he has the job fully.

and as far as alex f nolan for not letting alex take shots down field basically i think the reason alex still checks down is because of nolan, sometimes you have to know when to protect the ball and sometimes you have to just let the b***h rip and alex when he rips it can make all the throws!

I like how Trent he had the balls to take 2 olinemen, but that was need and bpa and we can all see the last decade we have had anyone to block for smith or any other qb we've thrown in the fire, as fans we all wanted the 2 olinemen a tackle and mike i flipped when i shall mike on the board at are second first i new he was meant to be a niner for life... Now Davis seems to be getting better his worth ethic was questionable, but i think he prove he has the drive to be a great player.

That was one of the few instances where a fan driven initiative to attempt to enact a change actually garnered national attention. Too bad it didn't accomplish its intended goal.

Because the same reason Robert Craft hired one when he started. So he could make more money because if we got the right guy for the job that guy could get the right coach for the job and win games making his team even more profitable, he could actually make them money by getting players that are worth the contact there about to pay out, so at least your money is going to a solid investment...

I'm sick of these cheap ass way of thinking. You've got to spend money to make money but when you spend that money make sure the investment is worth it so not only do you get return on your money, you actually get to watch your team play in a superbowl and make more money for playoffs since you now increased the amount of games you will play.

wait i think York just feel asleep will someone tell him he could make himself even richer if he just stop spend his cheap money ways on cheap coach's and he would simple try and build a winning team he would easily double his profit actually saving him money he's about to spend anyways on a new stadium by putting a winner there to sell all those nice new empty seats...

Yorks don't care about...

~ Right guy for the job.
~ Right coach.
~ Winning games.

I would be curious as to what the York's operating income is against the franchise value decline by fielding a loser every year. Last time I looked at franchise value the 49ers were down in the bottom, obviously an outdated stadium hurts this number, but having a perpetual crap team hurts it also.

You guys actually listen to SD's nonsense?
So many issues tied into this idea! Can you find a great GM? Can that GM find a great coach? Can the owners keep their hands off the wheel long enough for a GM to right the ship? Is Trent Baalke a very lucky scout or GM material? Will they (whoever makes the decisions) return the team to a west coast type of offense? Can A Smith play better in a pass first offense? Are all fans getting a headache watching this continuing drama of ineptitude!?
