Think about the repercussions! First of all, if we somehow make the playoffs, we will be destroyed by whoever we play. This team has proven that they cannot win a game against a team with a winning record. But most importantly, if we make the playoffs, this may increase the chances of keeping Mike Singletary and Alex Smith. If this happens, it will set our franchise back a couple more years (just like keeping Alex this offseason has done). We all want to see our 49ers become competitive and eventually bring back the tradition of winning, but we will continue to suffer if we make the playoffs this year. What would you guys rather have? A team that makes the playoffs this year and continues to be very mediocre throughout the next couple of years because we keep our head coach and quarterback, or a team that misses the playoffs this year but goes out and gets a new head coach and quarterback, and brings back a competitive team for the next 10 years!? Think about it. P.S. Arn't you glad that Willis and Davis signed their new contracts BEFORE the season started?

I still root for the team to win, but when they lose, i'm not disappointed anymore. Took me a very long time to get to this point. Before, a loss would ruin my day.

In my honest opinion, loyalty to a team has nothing to do with wanting them to lose in order to get better (specially at this point in Singletary's tenor).

If we make the playoffs, and Sing stays, people do need to realize this won't happen again. The 2010 season is a complete fluke because everybody's nervous about a lock-out, and the NFC West itself will not be this weak going into 2011/2012! We keep Sing, and we'll be at the bottom of the division next season, bank on it.

Singletary is in his second year, and we've witnessed nothing but regression. Things have gotten worse, and they haven't proven to get better. Our HC knows nothing about X's and O's, and is ignorant of modern offense/how to handle a QB.

I dont care if we make the playoffs or not.

When I envisioned getting back to the playoffs I figured we'd be able to make a run to the SB if we got lucky but at least be competitive and win a game. But this team would be laughed out in the first half. What's the point?

I'm just not overly interested in being known as the worst team in NFL history to make the playoffs. I want to win, not just make the playoffs and get destroyed.

My exact sentiments. -If we make the Superbowl we have to be an innovative/smart/well-prepared team, followed by continuous years of playoff appearances, not a one-hit wonder like the Bucs of the 00's.

Plus our most likely case is making playoffs at 7-9, in which case we WILL be the team that always gets compared to and say how terrible the playoff system is. Such an embarrassment to the 49ers tradition.

If we make the playoffs, which i doubt happens.

Anything can happen in the playoffs and if this scenario were to come true then the Niners would be one of the hottest teams going into the post season.

I would rather be a hot team entering the playoffs, than a team that won all its games early and locked up a playoff spot and had nothing to play for late.

Excuse me for desiring to win. I don't care if we get in at 6-10. If we get in the playoffs, I'll be happy. I want us to taste the post-season. The rest will sort itself out.
