We are done, but not the idiots running the organization.
Yup.

Best QB on the team, IMO.

but that ain't sayin' much

my plan for the future...

d. carr - gtfo
a. smith - gtfo

keep troy smith to compete in camp and likely be our backup

draft a rookie QB (high)
get a veteran free agent (no big name just someone who has had some success in the past)

Haha I know it would be cool just to see him play although I bet he is no better than the Smiths

f**k Sing
I think we are done thinking that at this time, Troy is good enough to overcome the plethora of flaws from this team. Pretty much the same for the other Smith... and the great majority of NFL QBs in this league. So what's left? To decide which Smith has any possible future here... and then start that Smith and stick with it till 2011.

It was pretty funny.

My suggestion would be to play both Troy and Alex.

Start Troy and bring in Alex when offence is in the redzone. Alex has been absolutely surgical in the redzone throwing from the shotgun. If you recall Ken Whisenhunt used Tim Rattay in similar situations back in '07.

At 4-8 what do we have to lose?

I love Troy, and want him on the team for many years to come. But he probably isn't the answer as a full time starter. I think he can be like a better Seneca Wallace.

They are similar but not quite the same. Troy has the bigger arm but Seneca is much more mobile.

I think we need to give him 5 more year to be fair to him.

Except that if we don't like Alex Smith, the list of FAs that will be available next season would all be second string to Alex Smith.

I'm telling you guys, after the top 10 or 12 teams, the quality of QB play in this league is PPPPPoor. There aren't any FA QBs that are worth spending money on. Other teams see it and they aren't going to let anyone of decent quality walk. As bad as it sounds, Alex is as good or better than anyone out there. (I'm not counting guys like Vick because he won't be on the market.)

It won't matter though because Alex won't agree to stay here, IMO, and so it will be Troy and a rookie plus a career backup like a Mark Brunnell. That is what is out there in the way of FA QBs.

Its the only logical way to tell if you have your future QB or not
