Well we will definately be less predictable. I think that naturally makes us more diverse out of pure need.

There can be diversity in the running game too. We currently run between the guard more than any other team in the NFL -- about 70% (tied w/ the Jets and Jags).
So with a more nimble, shifty back, you can have more outside run plays and the like.

why change it up?
look at the gameplan vs. Arizona.
we ran the ball for 261 yds and 5.6 per carry
Frank ran for 10.4 per carry
Westbrook 5.9
Dixon 3.9
when we passed Troy Smith was looking play action down the field on the TD to Crabtree
i expect both Westbrook and Dixon to carry so more diversity in that respect but the run is still the focus

This.
We ran Westbrook the same way we ran Gore.
Hell, we ran more this game than we have in any other this season.
All it will do is reinforce Singletary's moronic philosophy.
Then he'll be fired after the Packers game, so maybe things will change then.

That was the plan against the worst run defense in the NFL, Tampa, and they KNEW what we were going to do, gambled, and they won that bet.

Singletary will not get fired after the Packers game -- they'll give him the Seahawks game. If he loses at hove vs. SEA, he's probably done, but maybe not even then: he could be given a chance at redemption vs. the Chargers.

nah that late into the season he wont be fired. Sing is the coach for the rest of this season no matter what IMO

I've heard that teams are more successful at hiring head coaches without an interim to muck things up.

It must be. Hopefully Sing realizes that Westbrook is injury prone and cant carry the way Gore did. They ran Gore straight into the ground and we all saw what was going to happen.

It's sad that the coaching staff would wait til an injury to use all the teams weapons. the fact is this team players and coaches lack execution which leads to more conservative play.

Frank the Tank was 39% of the teams offense. No single person on the roster can pick up that slack, of course if will be more divers.

Will Our Offense Be More Diverse?
Here is your answer from the horse's mouth last night after the Zona game...
Quote:
"When I look at Troy, this is kind of like what we would like to be able to do," he said. "It's not necessarily the group blueprint, but we would like to be able to run the ball more successfully. Our offensive line, hopefully they're continuing their maturity and their development and we can do that. We'd like to take all the pressure off Troy that we can and just allow him to make plays that are there and not try to force anything."
Say this for Singletary.
The man may be going down after this season.
But it appears that he'll do it his way -- exiting the stage, in effect, by running right down the middle.

Sing refuses to change. Look for a huge blowout next week as GB's D will be more than able to slow down our running game.
