Yes, he is more than deserving and should have been inducted awhile ago.

Now, a serious question for all of you: After he hopefully gets inducted this time, could there be any chance he can somehow work out a deal with his sister and John (and also get league approval) to once again become owner of this team? Whatever deal he would have to cut with his sister and John - I know a lot financially would be involved with NFL teams being such the money-making entities they are - whatever it would take to have his sister and John step away. Then, Eddie could work with Jed (you hear that they talk all the time about football/Niner-related business and ideas) and even become something of a mentor to Jed to get and keep this franchise back on the right track as it was in its glory years under Eddie. This idea I'm sure has been thought of (or hoped for) by many of you over the years...now, with the timing of the Hall of Fame hopefully being a reality for Eddie, maybe it would also be the time for Eddie to get back into the picture of owning the Niners again? Or, has that ship sailed? I go back as a fan about 38 years ago, just before Eddie became owner, so I'm always hopeful he could someday, somehow return. This is probably a whole separate thread in itself, I know.

I don't think there would be any question about it. I can't imagine Montana NOT being the presenter if Eddie asked him to. Those 80's players LOVE Eddie.

It's an absolute joke that Eddie isn't already in. Any debt he had because of the Louisiana b******t has long been paid. Not to start s**t or open any scabs, but I think there is little question the early 2000s play out much differently if he was still the owner.

We took a while to get the salary cap working no doubt and no body is denying that Eddie made a huge mistake. What I'm specially talking about is an organization losing its face and leader. I would have much rather had Eddie making coaching hires in the early '00s. Out rep league wide wouldn't have taken the hit it did early on in the York tenure. Who knows the caliper of Coach we would have been able to hire. My gut says we wouldn't have been settling for Mike Nolan and Singletary types.

He had a chance with several teams (most recently tampa bay) but refused. He's happy in retirement unfortunately (for us).

Let's say Eddie did this. Well, when he died Jed would control the team again anyway, so what difference does it really make?

He's there for Jed if he needs him, just like he has been the last five years.

But he also didn't have to deal with JH on a daily basis. Besides, we already know he backed up Jed in moving on from Harbaugh by telling JY to do it if that was really what he felt was correct moving forward.
