I would drink very heavily, then, regroup.
I would call relatives from the old country to take our coaching staff fishing
- I'd hire a great football mind right now. His job would be to evaluate every part of the organization. He would have the rest of the season to watch practices, game film, read game plans and scouting reports. He would determine who, if anyone in the organization should remain.

- 10 minutes after the final whistle blows on the last game of the season I would call Singletary into my office and inform him that his service here is over and hand him a check for the rest of his contract.

- The next day I would call in every member of the organization (not including players) one by one. I would inform them whether or not they would be remaining with the 49ers which would have been determined by the football guy brought in in the first step.

- Immediately after the Black Monday firings I would have a meeting with the football mind. He would present a list of potential targets to replace Singletary and the GM if it was determinded that he be removed.

- Interviews with the targets would be conducted and a Head Coach/GM would be hired right away. It's possible they could be the same individual.

- The new hire/s would be granted authority to hire their staffs.

- The football guy would be retained to have a hand in the draft/FA process. And to perform as a consultant to me.

Does a name that rhymes with 'Gil Lardsmells' come to mind?

Parcells, Gil Brandt, Marty, ect. somebody who has lived and breathed football and hs been there done that.
I would start befriending Jim Harbaugh, and call him the second Stanford takes its final snap of the season....actually, f that, I would be there in person for Stanford's last game. This guy is the real deal...just like his QB. They will each turn a franchise around. Unless of course they end up in the same place. my guess...they go to different places, and make each franchise a true winner
continue the Yorks scheme. Laugh all the way to the bank on my customers hard earned money thanks to their amazingly low standards, blind faith and lack of NFL intelligence.

Sell to Steve and Brent.

Retire.
Well, well...

If this post is not locked soon like mine was locked, I was right all along - somebodies are against me. Have I been a member on this site too long to deserve lots of criticism?

It should be the opposite - being a loyal follower of this site!

But if I was the owner, I'd fire Sing today!
For the record, I still believe we have some talent. Crabtree will be fine, Vernon will be fine, obviously Willis is great and even Manny looks good. I hope we didnt lose out on all Frank Gore has to offer going forward but what we need is a competent coaching staff and a quarterback and well be alright. I know its been said before but it continues to be passed over by ownership.

That's a great idea.

A coaching change in mid-season would just make things more chaotic. But bringing in a guy (or guys) to perform evaluations and make recommendations at the end of the season makes a whole lot of sense.

The first name came to mind was Bill Walsh (R.I.P.). He would have been the perfect guy if he was around. The next best guy could be John McVay who helped Walsh build the dynasty. He retired in '96 though, and at 78-79 years old may not be all there mentally and physically.

In any case, that is a good idea and one the team should look into.
