Most valuable current coach?

I vote for Jim Tomsula.

Our d-line is really our best unit... Sopoaga really only started to improve after he got here, became a starter after Tomsula's first season. Aubrayo Franklin may have been a dude with potential, but he has recognition now and is considered a technician. Got here the same year as Tomsula. Justin Smith is Justin Smith... he doesn't need a coach. Ray McDonald has been a good situational rotational guy and I think he's improved every year. RJF looks like he might actually be able to play nose tackle... and he can sub at DE.

Only guy I can think of that he failed on is Balmer....

Bio from 49ers.com:

Quote:
Jim Tomsula is in his fourth season with the 49ers after being named the team’s defensive line coach on January 16, 2007.

Since Tomsula’s arrival, the 49ers run defense and pass rush has steadily improved. During his three seasons with the team, the defensive line has been stout against the run, allowing a mere 3.7 yards per carry, to rank 4th in the NFL during that span. In terms of yards per carry allowed, San Francisco’s defense ranked 5th (3.8) in 2007, 8th (3.8) in 2008 and 3rd (3.6) in 2009, a notable improvement from ranking 16th (4.1) in 2006 prior to Tomsula’s arrival.

Plus, the dude is just awesome. You ever seen him on video? Awesome.

Sure, a 3-4 coach who hardly sends pressure, or any creativity on defense... When he does send a blitz we get carved up terribly, because its a poorly designed blitz.

The same guy who puts will James on a good WR, or leaves that trash dude we picked up from detroit last year 1 on 1 with a seattle WR in overtime, with no safety help.

Yeah, great coach.

This! I liked Rathman and one or two others but I can't point to a single aspect of the game where we are playing better than our talent level IMO. Sack em all!!
I dont understand all the love for Mike Johnson. His offense can't convert a third or score over 20 points in one game. And he still can't get the play calls in time.

I hope the new coach gets rid of all these armatures and calls his own plays.

Johnson has improved our 3rd down percentage since he took over from raye. You have to remember he is forced to use rayes playbook, with his tweaks.

And I think troy smith will make the 3rd down numbers look even better, as he gets more starts.

I take this back. They are all f**king worthless
None of the above. This is the worst coaching staff in the entire league.
