Trying to decide who stays and who goes is really premature. don't you think. Troy Smith has played in TWO games. You have a coach who better be on the happy highway at the conclusion of the season. IF....IF the team hires a coach and staff that is more offensive minded they will bring the ideas and set direction.

Alex will be gone. Carr will probably be cut. It will most likely be (if T. Smith Continues to play well);
T. Smith
N. Davis
A. Rookie

I think they are both the same person. Carr is just farther along in the process, in a couple of years Alex will be today's version of Carr.

It should be Alex Smith. I've already told all my friends that the day Alex is released I'm having a cookout.
Agreed! I am tired of the "Alex Smith is turning the corner" talk... he needs to be gone after this season, along with Carr... Depending on how the rest of the season plays out, they may all be gone!
Exactly. I just can't take it anymore. wish alex all the luck in the world, but he needs to be off the team.

Alex Smith would be the biggest chump if he resigned with the 49ers.
I hope he has a little more self respect. Why resign with an organization where a)you failed them and b) they failed you.
It's just a bad relationship and now it's time for Smith to move on. If he loves California so much then go to Oakland or San Diego. But please..leave SF.
Hindsight is 20-20 but looking back he should have been released after 08. He was only what..? 24? Plenty of time to salvage a career elsewhere. Now he's 26 and while that's young...he wasted two more years in SF.

The Niners will be getting rid of two if they are smart. See ya, Alex and Carr!

I really like this idea because I am dead set against drafting quarterbacks in the first round. I really like your idea because of Brady and Montana but then you look at Manning and Aikman so it does not matter what you do if you can't evaluate a quarterback and contrary to popular opinion it's not just Singletary that has a problem evaluating quarterbacks.

this is a really lame survey because it forces you into an implausible situation. Carr and Alex are both busts;' they both need to go, there is no two ways about it. Nate gets bumped to 3rd string if other teams try to sign him, otherwise he stays on the practice squad. Troy is the starter but we draft someone in the 3rd round or higher to give him competition.

The answer is obviously Carr. Alex at least has some skills. Nate Davis is young. Carr might be the worst QB in the league.

There is no reason to keep Carr around.
Nate Davis, either needs to show some drastic development or get cut.
A. Smith is not signed. He will either be signed cheaped to back up or simply let go.
It seems that none will be back.

Alex experiment should be over, time to move on, Carr not needed either.
Troy Smith (if he contines to progress).
Nate Davis and either a rookie or veteran.
To me someone that knows about QB develope is most import, and singletary should just stay out of the way of the off cord., way when in comes to game planning.
