why not waive david carr and bump up Nate Davis

Because Nate Davis cant do kickoffs

I had not seen anything on Nedney except that his knee was bothering him. How long will he be out. Lets cut carr also though.

I dont think he is gonna miss anytime, They are bringing in a a guy to do kickoffs Nedney will still do FGs and extra point.

K Joe Nedney's knee injury isn't long-term, but Niners looking at kickers for practice and for kickoffs SUN against TB's Michael Spurlock

He injured his leg on the opening kick off, but managed to play the rest of the game. As valrod pointed out in another thread, it sounds like they're simply looking for someone to do kick offs, as that's reportedly the only time the injury bothers Nedney.
I bet he either

A) Rams, Seahawks, or Cards pick him up

or

B) He shines on another team a la Lloyd, Spurlock, etc

Carr can, but he hesitates before kicking so everyone is offsides, and it doesn't go very far.

He didn't have the best of hands either.
It's a shame I always thought he'd pan out to be a good receiver, but I think the guys in front of him are better so it's justifiable
i liked Hill and im sad to see him go but they didnt like him for some reason so i hope he gets a shot somewhere else. i can see the colts picking him up with their receiver injuries and have him light people up.

He should fit in well with their offense. Garrard is having a good season. Should be a good deal for both side.

Personally, I would like to see him shine there. I never could figure out why the 49ers couldn't find a way to use a guy who was so productive in college despite being the only threat on a team with just an average QB. There must have been something there besides talent keeping from getting PT here. What little PT he got he did well with.
