We need to use Troy to Ginn more on offense.

Ginn IS good if he can beat his guy deep.... the problem with Ginn (and where Morgan is better) is his ability (or willingness) to fight for a deep "jump ball" we've seen in the past that he has less than good ball skills. I do think it is worth having him on the field a handfull of plays during the game and sending him deep. If nothing else that will take one DB deep and should open some stuff underneath.

NOW the challenge is will the Oline give Troy time to throw???

I think Colinsworth () made a good point about this on Sunday Night Football when complementing Steelers WR Mike Wallace.... he was saying most speedsters never like fighting for the ball or "going up for the ball" and they just like to blow past people and make the undistracted catch if possible.... yeah I've seen that before, and maybe Ginn is that type of WR......but what is good about that kind of WR is that hopefully he WILL get past his man and not have to worry about out wrestling a DB for the ball.

and that is where our new QB falls in...but yes usually I would agree with Alex back there then we probably would need Morgan out there to make a play on a pass that might not be deep enough or what ever.

we might have to adjust alittle....from going with Morgan to make up for Alex's deficiency....to going to Ginn alittle more to make up for our new QB's arm who might be able to get the ball down field better on a consistent basis.

look don't get me wrong, we like to run the ball...I'm sure Morgan is a better(more important) run blocker on offense....just saying I think we should some how work Ginn in there.....and personally I think they will, I think Ginn is still nursing an injury.

well we semi have the poor man's version here..

so I say we stretch the field more with that combination.... Troy to Ginn.

Morgan played well and got open.....but I still feel we need to some how try and get Ginn in there for some huge plays.

hopefully this week

They would probably use him all the time if he wasn't such a p*ssy when he plays!
I say spread the ball around to all of our offensive weapons. Crabtree, VD, DWalk and Gore are more dependable than Ginn when it comes to completing a pass.

I hear you fellas and I understand how cautious some are about Ginn...but he has no drops this year. Doesn't mean he will catch every ball his way or will be more dependable than Crabtree and the others.....but its not like he has played horrible for us at WR, that we should avoid using him.

I'm not sure why some are having such a difficult time grasping your thoughts on Ginn. Especially the "new" guy. I must have missed the post when you said Ginn was the best WR we had and he should be in on every offensive play. Or the one where you must have stated he should stretch the field on every down by running the go route. Guess I'll have to re-read the entire thread to find them.

I don't see why we shouldn't stretch the field a couple of times per game using Ginn. He's the fastest WR on the team, correct? What exactly is the downside here? Why the harsh attacks for this idea?

Simply put Ginn just isn't good. Now if we ever need a fair catch on offense he's the man.
Put Ginn on the same side as Vernon. Send Vernon at the FS on that side but have him flatten his route to pull the FS and hit Ginn over the top.

Just going by the numbers. Ginn's 2008 year with 56 receptions and 790 yards was more productive than any WR on our roster. Crabtree will break that, but no other WR on this roster will.

Got it, coach. Obviously this is a recipe for success.

he has zero listed drops this season....he has been targeted 15 times and has 5 receptions.

the rest of those passes were considered uncatchable apparently.....and judging who his previous QB was, that is totally believable.

Look at more than this year, the stats do not lie.

There's one big reason the Troy Smith to Ginn connection most likely won't happen...and it's because the latter doesn't have the huevos Troy has. Troy's shown he'll get the ball to the playmakers...Ginn hasn't even come close to proving he is one. Shoot, he won't even return punts. He had a couple of chances vs the Rams, but was content to fair catch them. I've also noticed he has a tendency to run out of bounds when he does have the ball. BL: Ginn's a chicken and I can see why the 'Fins traded him.

I'm not sure people realize that Ginn sucks as a WR. He is great as a kickoff and punt returner but I hope he doesn't see the field on offense. Ziegler is better.

This. The 9ers much prefer the base 2 TE 2 WR set, with Morgan and Crabtree on the outside and Davis and Walker off the line. Davis is probably a hair slower than Ginn but presents a much better match up problem for defenses than the skinny and, frankly, soft Ginn. Ginn's speed is nullified with press coverage.
I think Troy to Crabtree,Davis,Gore,Walker and Morgan is doing just fine right now...Ginn sucks at catching and should only be returning kicks and punts for this team
Gin is not Jackson!
