For the 49ers to make the playoffs, you have to root for Alex Smith to not play

I am an Alex Smith fan, but apparently the only way Alex will get back on the field is if Troy blows a game. Troy didn't have a great game on Monday (offense scored 20 points), but it was enough for him to be named the continued starter. If the 49ers lose in the next couple of weeks, chances are they will not be able to win their division. So as a 49er fan, you have to hope that Troy continues to improve and that Alex rides the bench, even if you believe that Alex is the better QB.

For the 49ers to make the playoffs they need to continue to play turnover free football and cutdown on the penalties.

I am an Alex Smith fan, but I saw a future pro bowler in Troy Smith yesterday. I think we have a good chance at winning the division if Troy can improve whatsoever in the coming weeks. jeez, his passes are amazing.

This is beyond obvious. Anyone who is actually a Niner fan has to see that we are playing MUCH better with Troy than we ever have with Alex.

No matter how big of an "Alex fan" anyone may be, if you are really a Niner fan, and you want us to win, you have to support the team playing the players who give us the best chance to win games, as opposed to your favorite player(s).

Just like even if Westbrook is someone's all time favorite player, you wouldn't advocate him starting over Frank Gore.
