I have to go with Nolan for one reason: He was impervious to change. It didn't matter if the ship was sinking -- Nolan still set course for shark-infested waters.

At least Dingleberry has been willing to yank some chains and make changes. It may not have been quick enough for some of us -- but at least he's done it. I've got to give the man credit for that much.

Yea got it all from Wikipedia... didn't write it all myself... I just wanted to supply all the info needed to vote... I agree... Nolan was worse in respect to staying the course, but he did know more X's and O's didn't he?

Sorry this is a DUMB poll and Ill tell you why...M Singletary started off with a team thats a pretty good team overall...Mike Nolan on the other hand started off with a team that was worse than the Niners of the late 70s when Deberg was their QB. And Nolan still managed to somehow win 4 games with a team that should have been lucky to win 1 game.

Nolan is a better HC than Sing....which is saying very little.

Nolan is to blame for wanting a QB who is loyal and is a non-leader, and that's what he got. He drafted Alex Smith, the coach killer. However, it is clear now more than ever that Smith was the bust, not Nolan. Given that, I think Nolan is by far the better coach. At least he knows how to game plan. If he had the Troy Smith of 2010 on his team as QB, or if he had drafted Aaron Rodgers, he'd still be our coach.

Who cares.. But if I had to pick, I would say Singletary. Nolan at least had a fundemental understanding of Xs and Os.

Most importantly..

Keep the Mike streak going by bringing back Holmgren.

To be fair, Terry Donahue put us in the hole. I don't think Dennis Erickson was cut out to be an NFL head coach, but those terrible years of mediocrity were mostly Donahue's fault.

im gonna say nolan. i think he built this team but he also ruined a 1st overall QB every possible way there is to ruin a QB. he typically threw his players under the bus and the team gave up on him. singletary is not a good coach but atleast the players didnt give up on him. an 0-5 team still actually believes it can make the playoffs and so far theyre doing their part to get back into position for it. he made necessary changes at OC and QB and they look like theyre on the right track. i still dont like him and hope we can him for a good offensive coach in the offseason but hes way better than nolan. sings niners would kill nolans niners 13-6.

Actually, from what I've seen from Nolan throughout the league, he's a VERY good defensive coordinator.

Unfortunately, he was never able to manage the team very well... especially his handling of Alex Smith and the offensive coordinator position. He, like Singletary, wasn't very good at clock management either.

Players haven't come out and SAY it, but I think they really distrusted Nolan as well.

I have a feeling that Nolan will be a decent head coach one day though, but I could also see him only being a good coordinator as well.
