Dude he's not "good." Have you seen good QBs? Troy panics after one read and runs, it's what Vick used to be without the athleticism. He's also wildly inaccurate on short passes, just like the other Smith.

It just a matter of what you consider good. Yea he does have a tendency to panic and i think he holds on to the ball to long, but he has shown some skill. He is athletic and i think is more accurate mid/short than deep ( sometimes he just chunks the ball and gets lucky, like against denver and ST. Louis).

I still take T.Smith over A.Smith any day.

look at it this way, when Troy rolls out of the pocket he usually completes a pass to a player than a coach out of bounds like Alex does lol

tip of the cap to Tampon bay. They are playing incredible with all the rookies they have playing and contributing. Wish we can say the same. I hate our coaching staff....and we as a team are pathetic....

ha, fair enough. but a realist would acknowledge that they don't know the future. MadDog only predicts negative things and then talks as if he has some magic window into the future if they happen. That's not realistic, that's pessimistic, and egocentric, and pompous, and pretentious, and just annoying beyond words.

He bought into his own hype, I remember a time he really did have a following on here, must've got to his head. The fact that he gloats so openly when he is proven right and is so quick to tuck tail and run when is wrong is what turned the board against him. Hopefully he will tone down the self-righteousness when Singletary is fired and we can all go back to being a big-ol happy family.

The problem with this board is that it will forever be divided between the Alex Smith supporters and haters. I don't think that will ever go away.

I imagine it would have been worse if the 49erswebzone would have been around circa. 1990-1993 when Montana and Young were on the team.

It's not a Smith vs Smith thing..... in fact I would say that the failure of both continues to highlight the real issue with this team: Coaching. The Nolan years were some of the worst game management and personnel selections this team has ever seen. Singleturd has no clue what it takes to put a winning team on the field. Regardless of who is behind centre the prototypical game plan is unltra conservative in a modern pass first NFL. Manning couldn't have success with this team the way its coached.

The worst thing for me is the fact that we actually have the answers on the team right now. Crabtree and Morgan, Walker and Davis, Gore.... this offense could be a QBs statistical wet dream! We continue to start Rachal and A. Davis both of whom are not NFL ready. Does Sing make a change? No. Why? He has no clue that it is the issue. If a team that has 8 total sacks on the season is busting you up then make a change! Instead Singleturd walks around, scowls and yells at people. Completely ineffective. A good head coach pulls out the white board and starts to game plan, sits a veteran if necessary and COACHES!

It really is too bad. For us the fans we get our hearts broken. Imagine being a player on this team and have inept owners, GMs and coaches publicly ruin your career.
