According to the headline article on the home page, he was chillin' at his house in Cleveland all week going over game plans he'd received via fax...guess it's something. Although I'd say the same thing to the media if I was at home playing Madden, eating nachos and completely polluted with no pants on. Not sayin', I'm just sayin'.

After coming back from London, it took me 2-3 days to readjust. We arrived in the afternoon and had jet lag for that day and the next day at least. We had nothing to do the next day, so I could not even imagine players attempting to stress their bodies the next day.
So you figure they arrived late Monday afternoon, would be given two days off, so they would return to work Thursday. That would give them Thurs, Fri, and Sat. Why not use that time to spend with families, especially for the guys whose families still live in other states?
I am okay with them resting last week as long as they get good practice this week. Did the Broncos rest last week?

Cut the guys some slack. They've been banging their bodies around for the past 8 weeks. They need rest. Easy for us to say, "Keep trucking! Get to work!" But we're not the ones going through what they go through.

This troys last chance to prove that he belongs in the NFL and starting, no way he would just go with the flow.

Completely understandable; it was a long haul to this point and we were fortunate to get out of it as relatively healthy as we did.....coulda been worse I guess. The guys have played hard and they deserve it.
But if I'm sitting at 2-6, breaking in a new QB behind a line that's been inconsistent at best, and about to play a divisional opponent who we're chasing; I wouldn't think I had a week to take off. I suppose I expected at least the 1st team offense to go through meetings and rep a little last week.
Just my opinion, but I think they threw away a godsend. When more is required, more should be given, and realistically; if I'm an offensive player, I'm begging to come in to work last week. Whether we win in London or not, it was clear our guys have a LOT of stuff to work on; especially at QB. Maybe I'm missing some facts or just way off base. Hope they have one hell of a good week in practice
Wachoo think?
Your view point as a fan is understandable. The thing people forget is this is a job for them just like your job is for you. They care but not as much as a fan does, most people have NO idea what it is like to go through a NFL or college football season. Its grueling! If anything the week off with no football will help them. I read somewhere that Troy Smith stayed an extra day, but the other guys should go and relax.

I remember the 2009 Titans, starting the season 0-6, then entered the bye-week with a similar approach as Singletary...Jeff Fisher told all of them to get as far away as they can from football during the bye week...
After the bye-week the players returned to the facility with signs everywhere that said "Welcome to the 2009 Season Opening Day!" ...Jeff Fisher had created a brand new atmosphere and a renewed mindset. The Titans went on to win 8 of the last 10 games, and finished 8-8.
Not saying this will happen for the Niners but sometimes getting away from it all can help just as much as trying to put in overtime.

meh, I don't think there's a wrong way to go about it. Its probably good to take a week off and settle down, get away from this debacle of a season, especially having entered the bye on a high note. The more I think about it, the more I think giving the team a week away from each other and away from football is a good idea.
But I see the other side too. We're not a good team, we're making a change at QB at least for the immediate future, it would have also been good to take the extra week to make some changes and corrections, whatever.
However, I don't think there is much this coaching staff can do to correct itself in a week. Might as well relax.

With a crappy coaching staff it's probably better that the players take a week away from them and get advise elsewhere.

Hey....a couple years back, Tony Romo and Jason Witten went to Mexico on there first round playoff bye after their coach told them it was ok to get away and look how it turned out for them

They should have been practicing but with our s**tty HC that rewards crappy play it was bound to not happen. He just turned 2 weeks of preparation into 1 week. Lets hope the team comes out ready to play and win.
