Funny...and accurate.

It will come as no surprise that I don't like his politics but he also looks like the prototypical dirty politician. They should use his image as a bad guy on a future Batman story.

lol, seriously. he's a slimeball. everything he says rings with "I'm saying this because it benefits me directly."

He has nothing to gain, as LT. Gov, by "keeping" the Niners in SF. I agree that he's looking for bigger fish to fry for his long-term goals, which will certainly be a presidential run at some point.

I'd rather have a ninerfan, S.F. native in Sacramento than some L.A. douchebag.

in theory I agree with you, but Newsom is only a fan of himself. Whether or not he privately roots for the niners won't matter if it isn't politically expedient for him.

Afraid he is. I remember hearing him on Chronicle Live about a year ago, gushing over how his father took him to meet raider players all the time. He's a raider fan.
With Jerry Brown as Governor, Gavin Newsom as Lt. Governor, and Senator Diane Feinstein all who are native San Franciscans, you better believe there will be some behind the scene arm twisting for the 9ers to stay in SF. Also bringing up the rear will be Nancy Pelosi, and Barbara Boxer...

FYI, many of you may not know that Governor Arnold played a HUGE roll in Measure J in Santa Clara getting put on the ballot, and passing in Santa Clara. First, State Senator Elaine Alquist of San Jose, went to Governor Arnold, and had Santa Clara's City Charter changed for the Yorks, bypassing the citizens vote for SB43. Then Governor Arnold let the Yorks use his Chief Campaign Strategist, Steve Schmidt to pass Measure J in Santa Clara, plus the Yorks spent 5 Million to get Measure J passed.

So if any of you think that the all San Francisco team in Sacramento can't do anything in regards to the Yorks Santa Clara Stadium, ur wrong. Newsom has already said as Lt. Governor he will play a bigger roll in governoring. If the Yorks were smart, which they aren't, they would realize that San Francisco is the Heart & Soul of the Bay Area, and Northern California.

1 Last item, Newsom did try to keep the team in the City. The problem is that the Yorks are in bed with the local politicians in Santa Clara, and they also donate BIG Money to them, to keep them in office to do their bidding. Whereas in SF you can't get away with that kind of corrupt actions....

B.S.

Newsome is a total douche and never made any openings for the Niners. He had the most shallow overtures toward the Niners it was rediculous. I've not heard one statement that was an even remotely believable attempt to convince anyone that he cared about the Niners. Plus, he's smarmy, smug, and a lousy leader.

All that said, there is a reason that him becoming LT. Gov. is good for the Niners and that is because he's no longer the Mayor of S.F. He no longer will have any role in the Niners' future and that is a great thing.

He really wanted the niners to move back into S.F.

Now as LT.Gov. you know he'll hook up the niners with some help and assistance.

This is great news for the niners that has gone undetected.

GO NINERS!

Not sure you can say the Mayor is an "avid sports fan" because he's at the home games of the Giants historic championship run. Newsome is a socialite type of Mayor. He likes to be seen, like Willy Brown. Now if he randomly started attending meaningless home games you would have a point.

It's well documented the Yorks and Newsome don't like each other. Newsome was interviewed a few weeks ago on the TKO show. He basically said to the Yorks that they dont want to be on his bad side because he could be the LT.Gov. It almost came off as a threat.

As to whether this is a good or a bad thing for the Niner franchise and fans has yet to be determined. I would love to see the Yorks sent packing to LA and leave the name in SF.

@Oakland-Niner,
Ur right...the Yorks DO NOT like Gavin Newsom, and have used Newsom as a Scapegoat along with the City of SF for being the reason the deal to build a Stadium fell through in the City. Problem with that is, that its a lie. The Citizens of SF voted 3 times to have a stadium bulit, the Yorks didn't want SF. And for the record Newsom has said repeatedly that he is a Giants Fan, and he wants the 49ers to remain in the City of SF.

Former Mayor Willie Brown is very responsible in keepng the Giants in SF, and for getting AT&T Park Built.

@ mugOmug,
I'm Not a Newsom fan either, but I like to deal in facts. Your statement you made about Newsom, the same thing could be said about Jed, and John York. Remember late last year Jed said that he would rather his team play Football in Oaktown, than play in San Francisco...Jed York totally Alienated his Fanbase in the City by saying that. The arrogance, ignorance and ineptitude of this ownership amazes me, but the Fans who believe in it, amaze me more....go figure.

And this is precisely why I think the 49ers we relocate to LA. The Santa Clara stadium is going to collapse, as will any deal with the Raiders (The Yorks and Al Davis working together. Can you imagine the incompetence?). The 49ers' lease at the Stick will expire and then...

This. He can't have any impact on anything. Furthermore he doesn't really care. He just did political pandering when he was in SF.
