This is great news for the niners that has gone undetected.

I don't think it'll affect anything. He wasn't able to make it happen as mayor of the city, how will he make it happen from Sacramento?

If anything, he's gonna hate on the Santa Clara plan, which could happen in possibly 5 years. He'll try to force a San Francisco project, which is 15 years from happening, at best.
But that's if he actually does anything. IMO, he'll move on to bigger issues withthe state. Pro Sports stadiums are not the governments biggest issue. Especially this state.

He is not a fan of the Santa Clara plan, nor the Yorks. At least that is what I gathered from various interviews throughout the stadium campaign. While he was mayor, he did absolutely nothing to help SF get the stadium plan rolling. He sat around talking smack about how the Niners want to leave the city, but did not even put forth the effort to get the environmental report or traffic report done...?
I would like to see them stay in SF as much as anyone, and that is coming from someone that lives in San Jose. I do not see Newsome really helping the stadium situation at all. If anything, he may try to to hurt it because they are looking to Santa Clara.

Gavin Newsom is another political opportunist with his eyes on a much bigger prize than Lt Gov. He has been totally ineffective in getting a new stadium in the city and being Lt Gov is even less of a platform from which to achieve it.
Newsom has positioned himself well on Brown's heels to replace Brown when he is termed out. From there I expect him to look at the WH. The most effective launching pad to the White House has been from a governor's chair.

Lt gov has more pull than a mayor.
He can give us that under the table money if he wants to , that will help.

Gavin Newsom looks like a used car salesman and the devil had a baby and then dipped it in olive oil.

Funny...and accurate.
It will come as no surprise that I don't like his politics but he also looks like the prototypical dirty politician. They should use his image as a bad guy on a future Batman story.

lol, seriously. he's a slimeball. everything he says rings with "I'm saying this because it benefits me directly."
He has nothing to gain, as LT. Gov, by "keeping" the Niners in SF. I agree that he's looking for bigger fish to fry for his long-term goals, which will certainly be a presidential run at some point.

I'd rather have a ninerfan, S.F. native in Sacramento than some L.A. douchebag.
