Actually, I don't think that Sing was very pleased with the over all performance; but sees a team that is molding into a winner. I'm not going to be too critical of Davis as some of those holding calls were very weak. The line does have to step up though. Majority of the penalties were stupid; off-sides, ruffing the passer, etc...and most can be corrected.

But, they have to get better play out of the safety postion. Goldsten has to step up his game and become a better playmaker.

As a linebacker coach...perhaps.

I have very mixed feeling about the rest of the season. I want the 49ers to win but I am convinced that Singletary and his entire staff need to be replaced. So I'm concerned that if they win like 4 or 5 of the remaining 6 games, he might be retained. I want it so obvious to York that MS is not yet qualified to be a HC in this league that he will replace him the week after the season ends.

In actuality, I don't think I should be too concerned about winning too often the rest of the way in. The way they played against a mediocre team today, I don't see them winning more than 3 games the rest of the year.

It was an expected victory today, and an exciting win. Troy Smith is a compelling story. Moving forward, the Niners have to face a very good Tampa team, and then head out on the road, where they are 0-4 for the year. Not a good sign for the future, especially now that their LT is out for most of the rest of this year.

I'm happy for your happiness, but I think you are way too emotionally invested on this thread, and this team under Singletary. You are prepping yourself for a major emotional meltdown. Are you really ready to emotionally commit to Singletary? I cut my losses long ago, and I advise you to do the same.

2011 Rams are still mediocre huh? Good for us and our future.

Anyways, "it was an expected victory today"? Really? The Rams have been the best team in our division this year (in first place this week). They had a bye week to prepare for us. We started our 3rd string qb. Expected? No. It was going to be a dog fight from the get go and it turned out to be a heckuva one.

We're 0-4 on the road yes but let me ask you, were 2 of those loses in the most difficult road environments in the nfl? Yes. The other 2 losses? Shoulda been wins if it weren't for Nate lacking a brain and David Carr flat out sucking and blowing the lead. Don't be ignorant. A loss is a loss, but lets not pretend for a second that they weren't 100% within our grasp.

I've already been letdown by this team, but i still follow and cheer for them. Games like today are fantastic for team unity and morale. They are FUN to watch.

Perhaps you're "too emotionally invested" in this team since you have given up on them and now begun rooting against them. Just be a good fan bro. It's easy. You cheer for them. You have hope. Not rocket science.

That's more or less my position. We need a real coach. I hope Troy Smith is what we've been looking for at qb, but I don't think Singletary is the coach we've been needing.

That said, I have little faith in the organization to make good decisions about coaches. I think the structure from top to bottom is all wrong and I don't expect it to change. Same people, same bad decisions. Tanking the season seems pointless.

In addition to feeling it would be pointless, I think it would suck. I'd rather watch fun games and wins. I'm tired of going through the same cycle... I have felt like you do in the past. I just think after seeing it happen time after time, I have to place the blame on the people making the decisions about coaches.

Lastly, I have an unreasoning fear of the CBA situation. If there is even a small chance we don't have football next year, it makes this year that much more important to me.

Basically, I have little faith that things will get better. I think our players will just have to overcome bad coaching. Judging from Morgan's comments about speaking up about opening up the pass game, I don't think it's too far off. We'll see....

the point is that its a season of 49ers football and its only half over. it only lasts for 17 weeks a year. you will only live around 74 years. So there's a finite number of seasons of 49ers football in your lifetime, and those seasons are naturally short, so, if you like the 49ers, then the point is just to watch the 49ers.

Good post, my man. Any 49ers game, whether pre-season, season or playoff is worth watching and has point. And right now the team is moving in the right direction. Still issues to deal with and weaknesses to solve, but we are no longer lying rudderless in the water.

Whatever changes people hope for during the next offseason, this is the real thing now.
