Just spoke with Eric Heitmann's agent, Ken Zuckerman, who told me back specialist says Heitmannn just needs rest to be 100% in offseason.
from Maiocco
I thought he had neck problems

Wow, Heitmann's whole season has been a right off. I bet he's disappointed. I wonder if the 49ers attempt to resign Bass?

I think he is done. Nice career for a late round pick.

Baas has had a very unspectacular career here. He was a source of a lot of problems last year while playing LG, hence the Iupati pick. Now he has been starting at center and playing better than most people thought he could.
A neck injury is often something that re-occurs and could spell the end of Heitmann's career. I doubt the 49ers would ignore that possibility in the off-season.
Look for the 49ers to make an offer to Baas before the season ends. They will also look at the FA market before draft time. Cody Wallage/Tony Wragge are obviously not the answer as backup centers. Could even be a mid-round draft priority.

Gibson is a talented prospect and good fit for the 3-4. Makes up for us letting D.Briggs getaway

sucks cause Eric would have had a good season. He has talent and the line would have been so much better.
