This is not to argue w/your opinion or post; more of an FYI...

I have a weird feeling he will. If we make the playoffs bc of Troy , the overall improved team play will look good for Sing.
Sing is a young coach who COULD improve as well. He did make the big decision to start Troy over Carr, even though Carr was the backup[ all year long and has more experience.
With that, why is Carr even on the team?

Also we don't need a pocket passing prototype QB to win games and be a playoff level team year after year. A guy like Troy Smith can be good enough for this team if we improve and/or add some pieces like a speed RB, cover CB, and another WR(red zone specialist).

I think he does, Jed has come out and defended Sing, with a few more wins Sing will get himself another year.

I don't think sing can do anything to save his job now. Even if we make the playoffs I think he gets fired.

Whoa, whoa, whoa, the thought of having Troy Smith as our starting QB "year after year" is still a pretty dangerous proposition. Let's wait out the rest of the season to evaluate him. This is his job interview and so far he's passing with flying colors. I suspect that at worse, he could be at least be a stopgap for a young QB taken in the draft.

Passing with flying colors? Did he move the chains on a single third down? The offense that he led only scored 20 points in 4 quarters. You don't think Alex Smith can score 20 points? Sure his 4th quarter looked good, but if he had played better in the third quarter (I forget how many 3 and outs we had), the heroics would not have been needed in the 4th.
Troy is a boom or bust player. You either get 30 yards a pop, or 3 and out. In all fairness, that might not be a bad option to have. With the risk of 30 yard completions, teams will be afraid to stack the box on Frank Gore, opening up running lanes for him. There are things to like about Troy, but let's not go overboard here. His play was a C. He got 20 points and didn't throw any interceptions. He overcame penalties by his team. He made stupid plays that pushed the 49ers out of field goal range. He held the ball too long, making it more likely for his OT to hold or surrender sacks.
