Is this team worst than last season or just lack or progress?

Considering the following Within the NFC West 2009 5-1* 2010 0-1* *The only loss were at Seattle against the Seahawks Outside NFC West 2009 2-8 2010 2-5 I am not saying that the team will be 5-0 against the NFC West for the remaining of the season. I think the Seahawks and the Rams made good progress since last season.

Hard to look better when your qb and coach regress. The o line play has yet to really improve and the defense has seemed to regress. But if you look at it they made no moves in free agency and you wont' see the true impact of this year's draft for another 2 seasons. So in short they bet everything on Smith and Singletary progressing along with the rest of the team staying consistent. Folks touted keeping Raye but in hindsight that wasn't good for Smith's progression.

It's basically the same level of O-line and QB play working under the same conservative offensive philosophy as last year, so if you're looking for meaningful differences between '09 and '10 I guess the unexpected passivity of our '10 defense is what really stands out between the two teams. In that regard it's hard to argue that the team has progressed or even stagnated, so I guess that means we're a worse football team this year.

This is a team that Singletary envisioned, a conservative power running offense and overly aggressive defense, and that's what you get from a coach that doesn't understand the X&O's and wants to impose his will on other teams. A 2-6 record and more losses to come.
