~ Denise Debartolo York - No interest at all. Doesn't even like football. Just got the team after her brother fell into that fiasco.
~ John York - Truly runs the team from behind the scenes. Keeps a very low profile because he is not well liked by the public or 49ers fans.
~ Jed York - Frontman / Faceman only. Do you really think Dr. John York would turn over a Billion dollar franchise to a kid?...
He's just a Frontman / Faceman because the public was sick of that FAT HEAD LOSER. They didn't like him anymore (John). So the best family chance to get a new Billion dollar stadium was a new Frontman. Which represents new found hope and change...
It was an ace in the hole to get a new stadium. I don't know why more people don't get this?

SanDiego has it nailed. Plus, there is more.
John York (not Jed York) is chairman of the NFL's Internatiional Committee. John York (not Jed York) is the whole reason that the Niners are playing in London. And don't forget that the Niners are the 3rd most popular NFL team in England. Lots of merchandising revenue dollars in that statistic. John York is the guy who is perfectly positioned to profit, if/when the NFL ever expands into London.
sad but true SD
Nailed it. John didn't need to comment on Singletary's security as he could have differed the answer to be asked to Jed. That alone points to the fact that he feels his opinion should matter. Either that or he's just backing his son.
IF he was asked, then YES he needed to answer the question. I don't know the context in which the question was asked... BUT as mentioned before John is very involved in the NFL's international affairs. Based on that it's safe to assume the reason why he was being interviewed. IF this question was brought up in the course of an interview about the game in London that seems logical.
IF John defers the question to Jed, it would have been spun as him NOT having confidence in Singletary - John York IS THE OWNER. He answered the question the best way I think he could have... the way this reads he simply said "Mike is our coach" ... uh yeah. HE IS. JY doesn't say that he will be the coach even as soon as the interview ends. There is no actuall committment, however he didn't show a lack of committment either. Well Played Mr York... IMHO.
