Just be honest, did you chant for Carr?

If that is the case then there is a HUGE problem. David Carr is no great shakes but he has won games for the giants, last year. Now suddenly he sucks and Troy Smith is the man? Please

This gets to the core of one of the niners problem the head man on the field know nothing about offense. Because if he did he would know that Troy smiths lack of reps will limit the play book, no timing, no nohting

I think Sing limits the playbook regardless of who's behind center.

Agreed. Singletary is the worst head coach to ever coach this team. No doubt in my mind.

No, but anyone chanting for Carr wasn't doing so because they actually thought he could do better. They just wanted to see anyone but Smith behind center.

I DID AND THAT'S EXACTLY WHY

So, basically people were rooting for a worse QB to be put in because they hate Smith so much? Did Smith run over these people's cat or something? Seriously. People would rather have a QB that gives the Niners a lesser chance of winning than one that gives them a better one?

These are probably the same fans that hope the Niners lose the rest of their games so they can draft #1 overall. That's Niner fans for you. They don't play to win the game, they play Madden.

Why is this so hard to comprehend? There's an old saying in football, "everyone loves the backup QB," and that's not because he's better than the #1 guy (if he was, he'd be the starter)....it's because people are so fed up with the crap the starter is throwing out there, that they just want to see something different.

Happens in politics, happens in relationships and it happens in sports...it's not that you're in love with the new guy, it's just that you've seen enough of the old guy to know you hate his f**king guts.

To expand on this. If Troy Smith gives us the best chance to win, then why the hell wasn't he the number 2 QB all along? Why stick him at #3 all season? Singletary is just getting desperate.

It's possible Smith is lightning in a bottle and a fresh face, but that is highly unlikely. What's more likely to happen is a couple of really good plays, at least one bobbled shotgun snap (pace of the game will cause Smith to look downfield too soon), an interception do to a WR and QB not making the same read on a route, and a whole lot of incompletions.

Expect to see a return to Singletary football. Less shotgun and a whole lot of Frank Gore getting stuffed for a 1-2 yard gain.

well, I wanted to chant "Smith! Smith! Smith", but everyone would think I meant the Smith that was out on the field at that time.
No.

Carr = Alex

I wanted Troy.

Just fess up. Were you drunk? Are you just that frustrated with Smith that you really don't care if the backup is worst? Both reasons I can understand. Or maybe you just started following the NFL this year and did not know who David Carr was?

Inquiring minds want to know. That was a fairly large crowd chanting that..some zoner has got to have been one of them.

I wasn't there, but I'm pretty sure the Carr chants were more of a message to get Alex Smith out of the game than they were votes of confidence in David Carr. Everyone knew Carr was the guy that would come in if Alex was benched, so they chanted his name by default.

"WE WANT CARR" translates to "BENCH ALEX SMITH" in stadium speak.

I CHANT FOR NATE DAVIS SINCE THE BEARS GAME OF LAST SEASON
CARR ? WHAT A STUPID MOVE AND DON'T TALK ABOUT SHAUN HILL ...
How about coach Sing playing QB. He seems to think so little of the position, so he gets what he deserved for the QB decision he made in the off season. maybe now he understands that YOU NEED A GOOD QB at least to to you to the playoffs. It is not only on the D and the running game to take you there. sometimes they will fail you and your QB needs to show his mettle. Step coach Sing and lead us out of this dreadful season.

Actually, I chanted...

''WE WANT SMITH, TROY SMITH, NOT ALEX, MAYBE TAKE DAVIS OFF THE PRACTICE SQUAD,NOT ANTHONY DAVIS ALTHOUGH HE PLAYS LIKE HE SHOULD BE IN THE PRACTICE SQUAD!
WE WANT SMITH, TROY SMITH, NOT ALEX, MAYBE TAKE DAVIS OFF THE PRACTICE SQUAD,NOT ANTHONY DAVIS ALTHOUGH HE PLAYS LIKE HE SHOULD BE IN THE PRACTICE SQUAD!!

I dunno how it got muted out from the crowd noise. It was such a simple message and got the point across as we all yelled in unison.

Nope....100% behind Alex til he got hurt then I was 100% behind David til Troy was announced the starter. Now I will be cheering for Troy.
