Just be honest, did you chant for Carr?

Wasn't there, don't like Carr, Smith or Smith not fond of Nate either. We carry 4 qb's because we don't have one!

A. Smith Average on his best days
Carr, Bust with a bad delivery
T. Smith unknown, but No Body Else Wanted Him!
Nate, Millon dollar arm ten cent head!

As for Carr's poor performance, he shed some light on that, he claims not to have ANY first team snaps in practice, more bad coaching. This insight has me worried, as to how well T. Smith can possibly do, when Mike Johnson, has to look at film to learn about his OWN player! Wasn't MJ the Quarterbacks coach, shouldn't he know about T Smith even a little? Shouldn't he have gotten his back-up a FEW snaps in practice just in case?

I get the feeling MJ is so intimidated by Singletary he can't stand up to him and do his job!

You did chant it didn't you? Haha, Susweel.

You must judge Smith by all surrounding circumstances. He is a different QB than he was a year ago and than he was three years ago. He has matured and gained experience. He is better. But are his stats and effectiveness better?

It depends upon the game plan, the playcalling, his OL and his receivers. When the OC was changed, his performance improved. When Crabtree finally got with the program, his performance improved. Not surprising.

Depsite all the obstacles, Alex has performed on a par with most of the better QB since the OC change was made. He was better than P. Manning, Rodgers, Brees, Brady, McNaab and J. Cutler. Look it up if you don't believe me.

Against common opponents this year, Alex did better than P. Manning against KC (68.8 vs 65.0). He did better than Orton against OAKL (87.4 vs 73.6) These are indisputable facts. Alex is probably not as good as the top 5 to 10, but he presently appears to be as good as the next 5. And in a good organization, he could probably do better than that.

There will be limits as to who you can get to replace Alex. Good FAs are generally not available. Even if one became available, you are living in a fantasy world if you think he would sign with a career-destroying team like the 49ers.

As for a draftee, maybe we could draft one in the first round. But remember, this team is capable of drafting the wrong one. Even if he is good, there is a good chance he will stink it up for awhile in this organization.

Kevin Lynch wrote that on the play where Alex got hurt, the 49ers had max pretection (Dixon and Norris in to block.) Carolina only rushed four men. But the rookie Dixon picked the wrong guy to block and let the DE come in unblocked. Lynch wondered why the 49ers use these rookies when their constant mistakes have been killing us.

Coming back to Alex, he must finally quit being so loyal to the organization. It is time for him to now look out for his career and reputation. We are fans of this team and fans of some of the players. I happen to like Alex, and think he is a class guy who deserves better that what has been dished out to him for six years here. I am confident he would do well in a well-run organization. There is always a place in this league for guys like him.

Nate Davis? It takes far more than a strong arm to succeed as a QB in this league. He has proven nothing yet in regualr season games. Looking good in preseason is about as indicative as winning 4 preseason games. From everything we have learned about him, the chances of him being the long-term answer here is about 5% in my humble opinion. But let the dreamers dream.

This, except I want Alex to stay and we get a different HC
at a point of frustration I just wanted to see someone else fail for a change.

then I saw Carr fail so hard that it made Alex Smith look like Joe Montana.

I wouldn't nearly go that far. It would be more of comparing jamarcus russell to gradkowski...

And yes, I did chant for carr. Big deal! Had nothing to do with Carr, but more of our current sorry excuse for a QB. You can only blame EVERYONE else for so long. Smith is not improving. You can suggest all you want, but his numbers have not improved, he is still inaccurate, and he is a below average QB that needs everything to be perfect to succeed.

We give carr one crappy half and he is instantly demoted (which I am okay with). How many crappy halves did we give Smith? I don't know why some of you "think he will be good" and can't wait till "he goes to another team and lights it up"
Not only No, He'll No! At the Philly game I was telling so called fans that they had no reasons to want Carr. I feel vindicated. Just listen to Eric Davis too

I chanted for Carr and Alex hasn't done anything to prove me wrong. A second-half comeback? Gee, never saw that coming!

You feel vindicated? Why? Because you've come to accept mediocrity? You've become accustomed to losing? Don't call out other fans just b/c they don't drink the same kool-aid that you do. They have a right to question Smith and choose not to support him.
