RayMac rides the pine for a reason. He can't hold up against the run, it's as simple as that. Sing and Manusky are big on stopping the run and the starters on the D-line do exactly that. The aren't much for rushing the passer, but they stop the run with the best of them.

The guy can rush the passer, but that's about all he can do. And let's be honest, he's only an avg pass rusher anyway.

If the Niners went to a base 4-3, I'd love to see RayMac starting at DE. I think Manusky is using him perfectly as of now though. Pass rush specialist suits him just fine IMO.

Look into how a 3-4 is supposed to be run. The D-line is supposed to be "solid against the run" and tie up blockers so the LB's can make plays. If we had any LB's that could rush, except for Willis who has the ability but they rarely blitz him, then you would be impressed at how well Soap was playing.

Not so sure about that...Ray Mac had several chances to put Campbell down, but whiffed on each one. He tends to fly into the backfield too fast and too often misses the QB. While I agree we need a stud DE to bookend Justin Smith, I wouldn't change the current rotation. After watching how the Titans rotate their DL, I just wish we had better impact players behind our starters. I do think RJF will be our NT next year...but we need a quality b/u. Ditto at DE...while I think Ice is pretty solid, he's not the impact player we need. Just imagine someone with similar skills/motor to Justin Smith...our DL could really wreak some havoc.

Sopoaga's actually been one of our best defenders this year.
