EVERY ONE of those games is winnable. The Packers game being the hardest (obviously) but if they keep playing like they have been the last few weeks that could be a win too, especially if it's a bad weather game (should slow down their passing game a little bit).

If you think a .500 w/l record would be impressive, more power to you. I guess that's what people are settling for as a success these days with the 49ers.

One very ugly win at home against a bad opponent does not give me a "we're going to go 6-2 by Christmas" feeling. Alex still looks god awful way too often for my taste. Realistic? Not a chance.

I didn't say .500 was impressive. I said 7-2 was not a "weak goal" (as you put it). Learn to read.

They did not give me much confidence that we can win games. We won because the D only allowed 3 FGs and Gore had a huge game. If we were facing a good team, we would have likely been in a 17-0 hole or so with the way our offense (i.e. Smith) played in the first half.

Lol. The way we have played, yesterday's game/win included, translates to winning a game every 75 years or an SF earthquake whichever come first.

But hey, the light will come one, we'll be on a roll, and be this year's Tennessee Titans!

How about 1-6 after this next week? I think the team is headed for a loss. The bottom line is that this is not a good TEAM, and the coaching staff is pathetic at this point.

Nine guys on the field? Twelve guys on the field? Well more than 100 yards of penalties? UGLY!!!! Sure glad Heitmann, our team captain, and best OL last year, is riding the bench. Why play him when we have so many immortals on the line.

Two weeks, a 1-7 or 2-6 record, and Singletary is done at the bye. Thank God.

I have to agree with you on this point. The special teams gaffes are glaring indeed. It's a sign that Sing has lost at least some of the team.

Some of them continue to play hard though. Did you notice Rickey Jean Francois got a lot more playing time at the point -- and suddenly Willis and Spikes looked ten more times effective?

I didn't miss that. Francois' line play really stood out. And that's when the Niners started to throttle the Raiders with the kind of stifling, lights out defense that we haven't seen since last year.

St. Louis is looking pretty formidable with Bradford and Jackson behind center. If they trade for Vincent Jackson...they'll be tough.

good point I am going to go back and analyze RJF's play. I sit here and wonder do we actually win the game from yesterday if we were playing in Oakland? I think we do.

They lost by 3 or less to three likely NFC playoff teams, being in the lead or tied with less than 10 seconds to go in two of them. They could have EASILY won any or all of those games. They are literally three plays away from being 4-2 with wins over the Saints, Falcons, and Eagles. It's not hard to put a positive spin on the rest of the season.

Not by the way they played the Raiders. Their QB (Raiders) really stunk up the place and had it been the other QB, the results would have been the opposite.
Hard NOT to beat a QB who had a 10.7 QB rating for the game.

If 49er's DON'T improve on their playing from yesterday, they'll be lucky to end up 8-8.
