Id like to believe it....I really would. And I agree that he doesnt display the emotions needed by a real leader. However, his flaws go beyond lack of leadership. His mechanics are off. His accuracy is off. His judgment is off.

Smith lacks a lot of things good QBs develop within 5 years. Nothing's gonna change now.

When you say his mechanics are off? What do you mean specifically? Because I've heard his mechanics are better (can't remember where so you can accuse me of lying if you wish).

But I'm seriously asking what specifically, about his mechanics, are flawed, and how it's affecting his throws.

Thanks.

I read a piece on Smith by Jaworski towards the end of last season. Jaworski said that Smith played with a stiff front leg at times, at that has a lot to do with his accuracy and inconsistency. He did say that Smith had improved over the years in many ways, but he still wasnt 100% there yet.

Since Smith continues to be inconsistent, combined with the notion that he hasnt progressed from last season, I think we can conclude that his mechanics still arent there yet.

Maybe you disagree.
today is the day that alex's balls drop.

(meaning that either today he becomes a man or that today he fumbles away his career.)

Ron Jaworski mentioned his stiif front leg in the MNF against Seattle in 2007, when Smith was playing with a separated shoulder.

Now this year, just before the season started he went on KNBR and, when asked about that, he sais clearly: "I think he corrected them" and went on to say he's an Alex Smith fan.

That was from last year before the MNF game against Arizona. Jaworski says his mechanics have improved, but he still has the stiff leg (at times) which takes away from his velocity, and leads to his inconsistency.
Agree - This is make it or break it for Alex.
He is!
Here's what I think about Alex. He's a nice guy, and he's never gonna be a great QB.

From my own personal experience, I'm a nice guy and had to change sports from football to tennis because I have s**tty genes and I didn't grow enough.

So, I was a mediocre tennis player .... UNTIL I GOT MAD. Then, I would do crazy s**t like serving aces two or three times in a row, hitting winners. Until my rage died down.

Then, it would be back to mediocre tennis.

IT's IN MY GENES, and I think the same thing for Alex. He will either 1/ Always be mediocre OR 2/ take steroids and become a super QB.

Trying to change someones persona is ridiculous. He isn't going to wake up and be some baby eating pissed off dude who makes Farve look like Betty White. Ain't gonna happen all you Alex lovers.
