What a huge load for Smith to carry when he has to overcome his own coaches failed game planning.

Alex will get a shot somewhere else, if he has what it takes it will eventually show. I felt bad for him Sunday, but eventually he has to realize what needs to be done. Unfortunately, we don't have much time with this talented team, soon the window will close. This Sunday should be all about Alex, let him sink or swim.

Funny when you think about it because the deciding factor during the draft was the fact Alex Smith followed Nolan's instructions without blinking.

Now Alex is being forced to rebel and become a wild gun slinger. Fascinating

The past few years have easily been the most bizzare in 49er history. Alex Smith is the symbol of all of that. We draft this 20 year old project QB...NUMBER 1 OVERALL of all things...then do EXACTLY THE OPPOSITE of what his college coach tells us. Then we keep him around nearly 6 years later...and then...well...bench-boogate. And DESPITE all this...the players stick up for him after Smith rightfully deserved to get benched.

It's like one big fvcked up Tarantino film.
Go Alex go!
I don't mind my QB playing with an attitude. In Alex Smith's case, he plays better with that "FIRE" inside him and I hope he does it throughout the season.

I wish it were that easy. After 6 years of watching Alex Smith play, we finally found the real problem: attitude. Alex was too nice.........and therefore his game suffered.

Id like to believe it....I really would. And I agree that he doesnt display the emotions needed by a real leader. However, his flaws go beyond lack of leadership. His mechanics are off. His accuracy is off. His judgment is off.

Smith lacks a lot of things good QBs develop within 5 years. Nothing's gonna change now.
that's why Nolan picked Smith over Rodgers. Smith was more of a follower and Rodgers was more outspoken.

Where did this whole Phil Jennings thing come from anyway?
I had this buddy named Aaron that used to get stepped on all the time. At work, in sports, and by women.

One New Years Eve Night he was at a party with this girl that he really liked, went to the washroom and when he came out she was hooking up with some random jerk on the couch. That was the second "NEW AARON" was born. They guy became very aggressive in sports, didn't take s**t from our boss (and got promoted for being a better leader), started banging hotter chicks and generally has led life as a winner rather than a loser for the last 10 years.

It was the wake-up call he needed and he just snapped.

Hopefully it is the same for Alex Smith. Although couldn't there be a better name than Phil Jennings??

I would love to see our QB smoking on the sidelines while hitting on the other teams' cheerleaders!

Somebody came up with it in a gag thread from last season and it just took off from there.

I have often wondered how much all that training by Nolan may have affected Smith's performance.

That's funny, and pretty awesome because when I googled Phil Jennings, it had a link to a webzone thread about Alex Smith.
