I couldn't have said it better myself. If Alex plays well, I have no problem with him staying and Sing getting canned. We have to realize how tough it is to develop a good young QB, if we have one we can't really afford to let it go...no matter how much the fanbase wants it. If Alex can put together a solid 11 games with Sing as the overlord, I think he might be able to do some great things with a capable offensive mind at the helm.

Exactly. We've invested years in him...we shouldn't just throw that away because of a terrible stretch which is not even all his fault. The fanbase's emotions are clouding their judgment. There are other factors at play. There is no QB in this league that plays mistake free ball and executes to perfection all the time....it just doesn't happen. Yet, that is the bar that Smith is held up to...and the numerous other flaws that surround him are overlooked.

People need to critically analyze everything that is wrong with this team...and there are many things.

Actually, I can live with a 2 interception game. Now, 5 two interception games is what no QB in the league has done.

You're right, there is a little more wrong with this team but Alex Smith is the one leading the pack of wrong every game.

And you must only be in one post. That's about all I'm going to do with any back and forth with you.
we just cant buy a win, and to just get rid of alex smith right now would be a pure waste for any hope to make a miracle comeback. how many interceptions have been smiths fault? a hella lot less then his current total is. our whole team is just playing terrible right now. let smith run this show and see what he can do... and the whole "we want carr" was just laughable, he is worse then smith. guess the niner fans havent watched him play..
You don't pull a player until you have someone better to replace him with.

Not sure why this doesn't apply to Rachal, incidentally.

Coincidentally, this is the reason everyone here hates on Tim Kawakami.

Truth, whether some people here like it or not. This experiment with Alex Smith would never have gone on this long with any other franchise. None. Just us. You can justify sticking with him by bringing up every excuse you have for him, but no other team would have allowed this to go on for this long. That's reality.

Okay...for whom?

This question is asked as if Alex is actually decent or something.

It really doesn't matter who replaces him. They can't do much worse right now.

Generally I like reading her stuff, but most of this is emotional/sensationalist crap. There is very little reasoning involved here....it's more of the same, "Alex is the root of all the problems, and if you get rid of him, all will be well"

Nevermind the defense, nevermind the mistakes of other key players, nevermind the uninspired, play it safe at all costs game plans.

Don't try to make sense of it. She was the Merc's first female sports columnist. She doesn't have to make sense anymore, she just has to be a weekly institution.

In the 80's she was razor sharp in her analysis and viciously witty. She was an absolute joy to read, even if you didn't agree with her.

Nowadays, she's just something to put next to the Toyota ad. And that's a damned shame.

Because nowadays our team sucks and she's writing things people can't handle reading.

Wrong.
Let Alex get a new beginning someplace else. He could be a backup for the next dozen years and pocket millions. Let Singletary get on the motivational speaker circuit, those suits will eat it up. Take away Jed's Madden 2010 and get some real administrators in the front office.
Killion IS an idiot.

Not because she says what we don't want to hear but because she parrots the moronic fans who don't have the patience to look at the WHOLE picture.

Has she ever mentioned how crappy our Line has been? No.

She ever mention how many passes we dropped by the Receivers? No.

Or mentioned the revolving door at OC? Not without her Jaundiced opinion getting in the way.

Oh I know did she EVER mention that Smith is near the top of the league in Red Zone stats? HELL NO.

Shaj dude no offense but if you agree with Killion you must be a monosyllabic imbecile who doesn't know anything about the game. And since I know you're not a monosyllabic imbecile, I'm having a hard time reconciling your alignment with that Raiders Bulldyke.

Smith >>>> Russell.

Smith has better work ethics, he doesn't have to stop every ten minutes at the In N Out, and he's given 100% of himself to this team and it's fans.

Killion is an idiot because she let's her emotions dictate her argument. And honestly? You do this too. Not calling you an idiot but your emotions are showing every time you post about Smith.

Have you not been paying attention to when Smith calls the Offense in 2 minute? Dude is damned solid. It's when the OC calls a lot of Run plays in succession is where we get into trouble. Don't you think that sucks the Defenders in? When you have a stout Line that's a good thing. Please tell me when was the last time this Line didn't cough up 50 sacks a season. 3 Run plays will get our QB killed.

This is why Killion is an idiot.

You know the funny thing is that you say she's being labeled an idiot cause she says what Zoners "don't want to hear", when in fact you do the EXACT same thing with Zoners cause we say what YOU don't want to hear. You call them "Alexcuses, excuses and make inferences that we don't have a clue". You act like Smith has played every single down of every single year he's been with this team.

And you want to know another reason Killion is an idiot? We're 5 games into what could be Smith's final year as a 9er. She cannot name a better replacement either in FA, Trade or on this Roster. The point of getting rid of your Starter at THIS TIME of the Season is to put someone better on the field. It makes NO SENSE to remove Smith when you would only make your team worse for it.

THAT is why Killion is an idot.

I will publicly debate that lady about this team any day of the week about this team. I have more insight in my left nut than she does in her brain. The only thing she has going for her is she has access to the team and I don't. How sad is that?

In case you haven't noticed I cannot stand Killion. She and Lowell Cohn both are Tw@ts of the worst kind imho. They must be formulating their columns from the same bed at the local Motel 6, cause they look an awful lot alike.

Replace Smith with whom?

Carr?
Troy?
Davis?

Stupid.
