Has he finally arrived?

it's funny. when smith was getting his ass chewed out by singletary, i quickly thought about the time when seifert pulled steve young and how he went ballistic. we all know how that ended for young and the niners.

i'm not saying that this mirrors that incident 100%, but it can be something very much like it. i hope.

i found this read while looking for the footage. pretty cool. again, not calling smith the second coming of young. just thought it was eerily similar.

and this:

hmmmm...week 5. the eagles. yelling between coach and QB.

I thought of the same thing. I got caught up in the moment and thought "maybe this kid could pull it off" THEN...typical Alex Smith throws a pick to end the game. Singletary is the most stubborn person in the world if he can't see that the only way this kid could succeed is in shotgun/spread/2 minute offense. Smith's ship has sailed time to move on.

That pick happened because the line couldn't protect him long enough to set his feet and throw, if you blame that one on him, you are just being ignorant of the real problem.

Bull crap! He is responsible for the throw. If he's gonna get hit it's on him to duck under and reset. It's done, Alex is done in sf.

He still threw an interception to end the game, did you guys miss that? Pretty obvious, like in the second half against Atlanta last year, he plays better with nothing to lose.
Down 24-10 lowers the pressure on the pathetic choke artist known as Alex Smith and he takes more risks, resulting in more plays down the field. I CANNOT believe anyone can still believe in him, I bet his Grandma even thinks he sucks.

as I said in my benching thread. You can pencil in 2 INTS a game for Smith. he is leading the league in turnovers, just like our team is leading the league in losses.
if that throw to Gore wouldnt have been tipped on the last drive, i would be on his nuts

i have been saying this all day. for some reason people want to blame smith for A. Davis making a mistake and not blocking. of course they will blast me but the fact is that Davis whiffed on that block. there was not blitz. there was only a 4 man rush.
we need to win at least the next six games for him to have arrived.
If you have played football you know there is no exuse for turnovers and very few teams can overcome the amount Alex smith is responsible for. I agree there are other problems but take a sack over a turnover any day.

oh yeah. and someone please remember that gore fumbled twice yesterday. just as damaging as smiths fumble and game ending int.
Finally, our 6th year rookie has awaken...Superbowl here we come!

The problem is Gore and others do NOT consistently turn over the ball. Name me 2 games where Alex has NOT turned over the ball?

Oh but of course ... NONE of it was HIS fault!

Funny that Both Matt Ryan and Drew Brees managed to bring their teams back from behind and win the game.

Ooops, I forgot, they got better protection. I thought I'd just put this out in advance .. because it's coming. The excuses NEVER stops!

Bree didn't manage to do it this week.

Gore's fumbles were just as damaging, but Alex seems to have the disasterous turnovers like fumbles for TDs and ints to end games. Not to mention Gore leads the NFC in yards from scrimmage which to me makes him more valuable. Just the same his fumbles did not do them any favors.
I would put him on a leash and give him a half against oakland to see what he can do if he really is fired up

i've been an A.Smith non-believer for years. I just wanna see if what happened last night triggered anything in him. It was certainly not an everyday experience. How many NFL players get booo'd like that?? How many hear the crowd chanting for his replacement?? I think it can be life changing.

Man I hope you're right. It certainly felt different last night after the near-benching/booing/etc. The booing wasnt mild either. It was one of those "we're about to storm the field and break this guys legs and riot" boos. Bottom line: pretty vicious booing...and deservedly so. THAT SAID...I was SHOCKED to see Smith insert his a$$ back in the game (looked more like a mutiny move than anything else) and score 2 TDs.

But yeah..I've gotta say...that would be a life changing experience for any athlete. And I seriously doubt many players would have the heart/thick skin to do what he did last night. Hater or supporter...you can't deny that.
