Or does he just seem a step slower within the recent weeks? Last time I remember him making big time plays was on MNF vs. NO. Could he be hurting and playing through it like most NFL warriors do during the season?

I mean McCoy was running all over us. We're pretty stout vs. the run but Philly was getting good yardage on 1st and 2nd down and with Oakland coming to town I wonder if Willis could be hurt. Oakland can run the ball when they're healthy.

The problem is Franklin. He's been VERY average of late. When A Frank is average, Patrick has to take on blockers, hence, fewer big plays.

Agree. I feel pretty much the entire front line other than Smith is playing below average.

The main culprit is Franklin. I don't know if he is dogging it or getting owned because he missed training camp but he is constantly being put on his A$$. I would love to see RJF take over until Franklin can get it together. I think Sopoaga had done a good job this year but everyone else other than Smith has been average at best.

He did have minor knee surgery. Sure he isnt fully recovered
Maybe we just expect so much out of him. I think Willis played well in Atlanta. I remember a couple big hits on Michael Turner and he is not a small RB.

^THIS!

hearing our lousy fans call out Willis is tiring. Our D line is sucking this season. Franklin is looking to be a one year wonder because he's not playing well at all. Last season he was commanding double teams, which is what a good NT does. But not this season. The guards are getting to the second level and taking Willis out of the play. It's hard to make plays on defense when you are being blocked by 300 lb lineman. They block him one way, RB runs the other. This very problem is why most teams don't run a 3-4. Not exactly a plethora of great NT's running lose and a mediocre one doesn't get it done. Because the LB's get taken out of the play.
Rumor has it that he has been playing on a compound fracture using tape and pain killers.

where did you hear this rumor?
No he's not. He's just getting game planned more.
Only his pride is hurting at 0-5
Before season started, I predicted Willis for DPOY.

Yeah when I saw him in preseason he along with the rest of our defense looked unstoppable. I was really excited about our defense this year and thought they were going to do big things. However, they have been very disappointing and I do agree that lot of the blame falls on A Franklin, but I can't help but be frustrated with Willis. I mean the guy has been a freak and has always dominated, but this year he hasn't done much. I hold him to a much higher standard and I expect him to still dominate despite the nose tackle not doing his job. The only person that I think is really getting his job done and busting his ass every single play is Justin Smith. He has been consistent his whole career and is truly a great football player. Shantae Spencer, Takeo Spikes, and Manny Lawson have all been mostly solid.. everyone else has disappointed me, including Willis. What is even more frustrating is how Willis and others talked about how they were going to be a top 5 defense and then they come out and play like this.

is bowman hurt? He got juked by kevin kolb for an 18 yard gain on a 3rd and 17.

That was awful....

can't believe he bit on the pass fake when Kolb was already like 10 yards past the LOS

I was saying the same thing. Seriously, he looked like an amateur.
Nope he got his contract and lost his killer instinct. Happens all the time.

I agree.
That big RB breakaway run by the eagles was Willis actually trying to do too much and help out Spikes

Dunno if that was already posted.
