Keep Sing if you believe in his system and if you think it will prove to be effective in the future.
If you don't believe this is working now or will work in the future, then you would want him to go.
What is the evidence, the record, the trend? What do neutral professional experts say?
What are the team dynamics? Do the players seem to believe, or does it seem they want a change?
What is the coach's demeanor when he interacts with the public?
Are you optimistic that another draft and a couple of trades will turn things around?
Is the system so complex that it takes more than a couple of years to learn?
Is it simply the fault of Smith or a lineman or a defensive player....?
Is motivation and faith more important than X's and O's?

The rest of the fans avoid the drama and realize firing Singletary now doesn't solve anything.
The take away here is... frequent and dramatic posters are flaming homosexuals with not much else to do except act like they know what's best.
I think you told us just a little bit too much about yourself there.

I have no problem keeping him - especially if they turn it around - knowing getting rid of him will probably mean A.) losing Mike Johnson (unless a current 49er assistant becomes the next head coach and B.) we have no idea who would replace him.
I'm also of the opinion that it's VERY hard for any of us or the media to really evaluate the job a head coach is doing. I know wins and losses are the most obvious but they tell a much bigger story. And we're as close as can possibly be from being 3-2, all three wins from probable NFC playoff teams. That doesn't show up in 0-5, but it's a fact.
Aside from a guaranty Jon Gruden would be the next coach and there wouldn't be a complete change in offensive and defensive systems if he does I don't see any huge upside to getting rid of Singletary. I say ask again in January.

Keep him till the end of the season. If we are 11-5 and win a play-off game, keep him. Anything less, send him packing.

I don't agree with firing him in the middle of the season. Jimmy Raye had to go but I usually dont like the quick trigger with HC . I agree wait till the end of the season and make sure you have a viable option.
