you don't bench your star player who has been reliable 99% of the time. JMHO.

I know it is sacrilege to even ask this, but some time NFL running backs are only really productive for 6-7 years. There is a long list of guys, Priest Holmes, Terill Davis, Larry Johnson, and many more who dominate, then burn out.
Coaches like Nolan and Singletary wear these guys down to the nub, run them into the ground.
When Frank used to blast through the line, I was always waiting to see the first DB get blown up, now he never makes it past the LBs. Holes are there, he just doesn't seem to get to them and through them fast enough anymore.
Frank rarely turns the corner on sweeps anymore.
Frank no longer trucks DB's, they take him down one on one.
Frank gets caught in the backfield
Frank goes down to ankle tackles
Frank slips and falls when he tries to change directions
I said it back when Nolan was running everything through Frank, we need to rest him or he will have a short career. Now we need to rest him because he is at the end of his career.
Frank has some good games left in his career, but isn't good enough to demand 30 touches a game.
Why would u waste your time to make this post .

The man has 1 bad game and you think he is done ???

Frank has not been dominate all season jack ass, stop living in the past!

Niners need to give up the "power-run" team thing. they are obviously a much better "modern" passing team in the style of the Colts.
free Alex!

We didn't get 8 in the box very often this week, or last week, other teams are not afraid of Frank anymore.
You obviously weren't paying attention to Quintin Mikell. A ton on first and second down he was creeping up in the box.
Safeties aren't afraid of Alex Smith.
We see 8 in the box no more than any other teams in the NFL this season, I watch a lot of football, and I don;t see other teams showing 8 as often as say last season. Last season teams dared us to throw on every down stacking the almost every play, it has been a joke how bad our passing game was, now it does not seem to me that we see it drastically more than any other run based team.

Sure, some of the time, but how does that explain Frank getting killed in the second level? WHEN he does make it to the hole and bursts into the secondary, I USED to think "here we go Frank is going to bust a long one" Now he seems to go down easy.

actually I do think that would've been as good a time as any to bench Gore and get Westbrook into the game

Realistically he's got 1-2 good years left in him....if you look at the typical shelf life of featured runners in this league.
Doesn't mean he can't be productive for years to come in a lower capacity. But his days as a featured back are drawing to a close.

Yes. I wanted Singletary to bench him after his first fumble to send a message to the entire team that this isn't going to turn into a 3-turnover game. Benching him for a drive and putting in Dixon or Westbrook would have opened Gore's eyes and possibly allowed for other players to make something happen and open up coach's eyes.
f**ken turnovers.

Frank Gore is--without question--the best, most talented player on our offense. If you asked anyone outside of SF they would agree. We were DOMINATED at the line of scrimmage on both offense and defense, and what happened last night was the result. Like alot of guys that played last night, Gore had a terrible game. 2 fumbles are inexcusable, but so are the INT's , the missed field goals, the turnstile blocking, the "no way am I fighting for that pass/fumble" attitude....there is a lot of blame to go around, and 99 times out of 100, Gore will be a bright spot.

Benching and Gore shouldn't be in the same sentence. Reducing his load is one thing, but benching him is retarded.

I said for one drive. Great running backs get benched temporarily if they are fumbling the damn ball. What are you worried about, him getting his feelings hurt?

he should have been benched last night before the second fumble. Eagles obviously had his number. Westy should of come in.
