Why because David Carr is a first over all pick.... still this alex guy gives us the best chance to win, sadly it's not good enough and we need more speed on offense and better qb play if sing wants to run the ball, he's got to throw it to open the run.

c'mon man. Holmgren has a job.

Ryan made some bad throws, one being intercepted at a critical time at the end of the game. But Atlanta won, and his bad passes will be forgotten.
Alex made a number of good throws, but the one thatt will be most focused on will be his dumb interception.
When they showed the GB highlights, how many besides me noticed how relaxed Rodgers was as he waited for his quality receivers to get open? He had all the time in the world to set and throw a perfect strike for touchdowns. I do not care what many of you say, but OL plays a huge role in a QB's performance. Alex's poorest throws were when he trying to get something done while defenders were bearing down on him.
Alex has played his whole career with a team whose OL was poor. He entire experience and the focus of his coaching has been to get the ball out in a hurry. After all those years and all that experience he plays like you would expect - with hasty desperation. The kid is good, and could be really good if he played with a quality organization that developed him under the right circumstances. I concede that Rodgers is better than Alex, but I suspect that Rodger's performances would be significantly less if he had been playing here rather than at GB.
For those that will harp about my "excuses," you can just "Go stuff it."
I totally agree...that 6'5" linemen was running free in Alex's face and had to throw high...unfortunately, Gore is short and always seems to tip the damn ball up to defenders, even when it's thrown towards the sideline. He played well but again, missed some crucial throws (had Morgan deep but again, pressure caused that IC). He really needs to work on his touch passes and leading the receiver (Montana's signature) and passing around the waist and keeping his passes down (mechanics). Some good pressure drills this week could help. It's correctable...great job on audibles today!
He is making the same mistakes. I hope you are being sarcastic...
Then be objective and highlight the exact mistakes you mean. Smith was almost perfect in the first half and THAT was when we were getting good yardage on first downs. The second half, the o-line started to fall apart, we started running more no-gains on first downs and players such as Morgan played up and down. The INT's? The LB did a great job and dropping back in the lane and the Gore play. We sustained some good long TOP drives and were in position to win...Morgan drops a critical 3rd down, we let a safety run free, etc. Are these the plays you are talking about? You need to look at the bigger picture esp. considering we had a brand new OC and a brand new game plan and VERY few check downs. It was Crabtree's best game by far and everyone was involved in the game and Gore was still our bell cow. It's a good start...and some of these mechanics can be worked on esp. if Johnson can see them on tape and practice these situations during the week!

Alex for killing 3 drives that could've resulted in points. And obviously, Nate Clements. What a fool. He shoulda just done a pose and then got it stripped a la Dre Bly.

Guys....we all wanted Alex to succeed! ITS YEAR 6! His time is CLEARLY up. Anyone who doesn't think so is completely out of their mind. He shows flashes but he is not CONSISTENT! Locker/Luck/Vick/Kolb/Anyone 2011.
That said, the blame goes as follows:
The Yorks (for being cheap, piece of s**t owners)
Sing
Alex
Nate
Manusky
Question is, is what do we do though? Go with Carr or T. Smith who are as unproven as Alex? Right now it would seem that Alex is our best choice since he knows this offense better. I think throwing one of our back-ups in may set us back even more. We are in a bind.
I agree, I think Alex is our best option at the moment, I do not want Carr playing and T. Smith has not been around long enough yet.
you dont know that

Gruden please so we can go west coast! though i like to see cowher spitting on are players after watching today's game, then when the coach talks they'll get the point to do good so as to not have to talk to him and be spat on.

Has anyone given thought to the idea that maybe clents was trying to score himself because he did not trust to leave it in the hands of the offese in particular Alex Smith? Though I believe he should have been more cautious with the ball.
