You were talking about flukes. I wanted to know which of Smith's seasons are flukes.

Let me grade them so you don't think I'm asking as an "Alexcuser".

2005: F -

2006: C -

2007: F -

2008: DNP

2009: C

Oh, I get you now... I was saying that the #2 in Red Zone efficiency this year is the fluke. Those years above are more the standard.

I scratch his rookie year because of the team talent and he was a rookie. I also scratch the post injury stats of 2007.
2006 D
2007 F
2009 C-
This year he's been up and down so far; but, I'd put him in the C- to D+ area. If it wasn't for the Saints game he'd be in the D to F area.

Smith had the same OC from last year, too.

Warner > Leinart

Smith = Smith

And? He still has more than one option on pass plays. If Smith =Smith, the 49ers = Done.

Don't worry. We were already going to do that anyway.

Just pointing out that your comparison = bad.

Smith didn't seem to have this problem last season. OC has been fired. You decide.
Alex Smith career on passes 11-20 yards

249-418(59.5 completion %) for 2776 yards and 16 TDs and 13 INTs(6 of those INTs came his rookie year)

He has a QB rating of 100+ in the redzone from last year too.

Alex's problem isnt the redzone. We've known this. His problem is GETTING there. That goes for our entire offense.

Have you compared red zone efficiency stats from his "good" seasons? IIRC, he was pretty decent last season.

I call 2007 a fluke/scratch, personally.

In my books, that leaves him about a C- overall. You'd say D+ without 2007, yeah?

All I want is C+

If you scratch the 6 picks from his rookie year it's 86.4.

Do you have a link for that? If I remember correctly most of his TD passes came from outside the redzone in 2009. I've always been under the impression that Alex has a serious problem scoring in the Redzone, which is why we settle for so many FG's...

I love statistics.

To compete in the post-season we need a B to B+ guy. A top 10 QB is not to unreasonable to want.

Well, I'm basing that off the idea that we have a dominant run game and defense. Epic fail.

You win.
